Yes, in the early 90s. My mother bought them for me. Who they hell are you to speak for all women and products?

Did you work on Capitol Hill? No? Then you're irrelevant.

Yes, for my Ohio congressman before going to nonprofit. Why keep insulting me? What’s wrong with you? Issue is dead — Tara Reade says she was not wearing pantyhose due to warm spring weather. You are weirdly aggressive on what type of pantyhose women wore.

You would have to believe her. I don't.

Anybody who has looked at the whole of her past, especially her tweets, can't consider her credible. She has an ax to grind.

Did you read about the nonprofit she allegedly stole from? The owner has receipts and proof.

The bar has been set pretty low for our officials and sexual assault. Between Clarence Thomas, Kavanaugh and Trump who cares any more about an alleged allegation more than twenty-seven years ago. I would also point out that this was allegedly soon after the debacle Anita Hill hearings that Biden oversaw and I think if he did what is alleged, it would have been big news back then.

Yeah. I am tired, too. I really want to move on from Trump.

This is about rethuglicans who only care about the 1% and der Trump is the leader of them.

Vote Blue no matter who! Every vote counts so do not waste it by not voting or voting for some 3rd party candidate.

Sorry, but no. I cannot vote for that senile creep. I will sit this one out or go 3rd party.

Then you will essentially be voting for Trump. WHen will people understand that our elections often force us to either have no voice at all or vote for the candidate that we feel is the lesser of 2 evils? That's just the way it is, and you sitting this one out won't change a thing. One of them will still be president. If you want to take a stand against our process, then great! It does suck! But please find a way to do so in an effective way that won't result in 4 more years of Trump.

If you feel so strongly that this is correct (I don't, BTW), then you need to get on your party leaders to get him replaced. Biden is not the person for this campaign, or to run against Trump, or for the job of President. You know that as well as I do and yet "we" allowed this to happen.

Sorry, but no. If we have to live through four more years of Trump to make this point, I think the longer term end game is worth it.

If you actually believe this, you were never going to vote for a Dem anyway. You make absolutely no sense.

The PP above makes perfect sense. You just can't see it. We need a new candidate or November will be a disaster.
But you just keep whistling past the graveyard with Joe Biden and Chris Dodd

You mean Bernie, who couldn't get his mass of supporters out to vote for him? Or Warren, who didn't even win her own state? Who's this magical candidate who you think is going to swoop in and activate black voters, suburban women, independents, and these persnickety Bernie voters who hate everyone?

Medium has a good, short piece on the whole stealing-from-the-nonprofit thing.

https://medium.com/@eddiekrassenstein/biden-accuser-tara-reade-allegedly-stole-from-a-non-profit-organization-e276cac68a2b

From the feminist who runs the nonprofit: "Look, this isn’t about protecting women,” says Hummer. “This isn’t about the #metoo movement. This isn’t about Joe Biden.. This is about truth. Tara Reade stole from me. She lied to me. She stole from my organization. She manipulated me and she duped me. I want that to be shared because it’s important information. And I have documentation, images and emails to prove it.”

Joe is going down in flames. He just hired Chris Dodd, of all creepy womanizers, to vet his female Veeps. What self-respecting woman would run with Biden.

A search on "Medium Tara Reade" produces some interesting things.

For example, apparently Tara heavily edited her 2019 Medium post right before she came out with new allegations in April.

+1000

Head's up: Politicians don't listen to people who don't vote. If you're willing to sit this out, why would anyone bother to try to win your vote next time. There is a reason we have Social Security but not reasonable college costs-- because old people are reliable voters and young people are not. There is a reason there has been no progressive immigration reform but money spent on border control and deportation-- because Latinos have a low voter turnout while anti-immigration folks show up at the polls.

So, good luck with your protest strategy.

Last time I checked, there was not attendance taken at the polls. "Politicians" won't know or care that I sit this one out. And yes, I live in a state that will matter.

I am someone who was in my early 20s in the early 90s.

And so was I! Yet, I was given and WORE thigh highs!

To work? LOL. Ok, maybe you did. But, literally, I don't know anyone else who did that. I wore a lot of tights and hose, though. As did most if not all the women I knew.

Why are you so stuck on this issue? I was a poor college student working at a nonprofit. My mom bought them for me and I gladly accepted her gift. Do you always make fun of other women and their clothing ? What a sad person you must be with little self-esteem.

Why don't you two start your own thread? Tara Reade has not said she was wearing thigh highs, she said she had bare legs. So you twits should take your personal spat elsewhere, maybe to the Fashion forum.

For the record, thigh highs are ridiculous.

They were a thing back in the 90's, and I wore them sometimes in the summer because they were cooler (especially in DC) and I have long legs so they fit me better. But I don't think most people did.

But her story falls apart for me because she says she had bare legs. No one had bare legs.

I don't believe Reade anyway, but this is an awfully slender point to hang. Of all the thousands of interns that went through Capitol Hill in the 1990s, it's hard to believe that not one ever violated the dress code.

I will sit this one out...

You know exactly who it is: Michelle Obama.

I agree that was the only slightly weak part of the interview. Nonetheless, the obvious likely explanation is that many of those old policy position papers are dated by today's standards, and it would be like the busing discussion raised by Kamala Harris all over again. A political distraction and not relevant.

Why have Biden’s positions aged more poorly than Bernie’s?

Biden strikes me as someone who isn’t a leader or intelligent in the slightest.

There is no way someone of his caliber gets to where he is if he was starting his career out in the last 15 years.

Graduated college in 89. I wore thigh highs in the early 90's. Let's just give this argument a rest. It has turned out to be irrelevant.

Once again, she isn't claiming thigh highs. She said her legs were bare because it was too hot to wear hosiery. In DC in early spring, around the time of a major snow storm, she claims that it was too hot to follow dress code requirements by wearing hose.

What "major snow storm" happened in April 1993? April 25th 1993 it was 79 degrees, is that not hot enough for you?

Or, there is something there that he doesn't want made public.

He said quite clearly what he doesn't want made public: he doesn't want everybody spending the six months until November combing through 1980s memcons about his meetings with Russian officials and the like. You know Trump's sleaze machine would take quotes out of a context that's definitely changed over the decades Biden's been in office. You know the Trump machine would armchair quarterback Biden with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight. What a gift for Trump!

And it's a totally unnecessary gift for Trump, because (a) these old Delaware files probably aren't electronically searchable, and (b) the Delaware files don't have HR records anyway, what's the point?

Like PP, I want to listen to Tara Reade. But that doesn't mean we have to believe every woman. Her changing story and the horse farm accounts are disturbing. Sorry pps, so is her statement about her legs being bare (not thigh highs) in early spring when hose were mandatory. At the end of the day, 1 potentially credible accusation against Biden doesn't count for anything against the dozens of credible, documented accusations against Trump. And most important, at the end of the day, this nation can't survive four more years of Trump's mismanagement and divisive polemic.
