And they are probably better positioned to weather this storm than the smaller boutique fitness centers. Maybe they believe Trump when he says that we’ll be down to 5 cases ... last week?
My husband is a member of Lifetime, and I'm a member of Orange Theory, and I'm disturbed and appalled by how both are handling this. At least OTF has been sending emails out about how they're keeping the facility clean (suposedly). Lifetime has been absolute radio silence. They are communicating via their FB group but the fact that they haven't just closed outright is outrageous.

I’m at Solidcore and while I adore the studio, the willful ignorance about the need to close is hard to watch. They went from “keep high fiving” to “just elbow bump” to “you get your own clean machine it’s awesome.” All of it ignores the intentional gathering of people from different households, any of whom could be infected and a vector of infection. Flatten the curve. Non-essential group activities need to be shut down by the government because the financial disincentive for the gym to do it voluntarily is immense, and the lack of awareness or concern from clients makes a voluntary cessation unlikely.
