Yes, Trump is pointing out the hypocrisy of the libs sanctuary policy and showing the end result of such policy. I keep reading how immigrants are being used by the idea as a political weapon. It's not immigrants. It's illegal immigrants.
What is the short term answer to 4,000 monthly illegal immigrants across the southern border? |
| The President is giving you exactly what you said you welcomed. Remember the signs, the sermons we heard, the taxes we pay, the donations we make, the languages we learned, and hours of volunteering we give? Yeah - he's giving us exactly what we encouraged and support. This community can handle the needs far better than most. |
The opinion on the retaliatory measure is the policy of sanctuary cities, where local government doesn't help federal law enforcement on illegal immigration, is to show illegal immigration in the country is a huge issue and unsustainable for communities. Illegal immigration breaks health care and raises taxes on those living and immigrating legally. |

Can ANYONE address what is wrong with the actual act of taking illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities, rather than reacting on their emotional reaction to it or Trump's motivation for it? Focus on actions and solutions instead of your feelings. Democrats, speak up about why it would be bad to do this as a matter of fact, without talking about emotion.
Good Lord. I read this entire thread and it's unreal. |
Ask ICE since they thought it was a bad idea. |
"Matthew Albence, the acting deputy director of ICE, objected to the idea, telling the White House that there would be liability issues if a migrant were injured during transport. He also raised concerns that the agency’s budget had not been appropriated for that purpose. In an email, Mr. Albence responded that the proposal would create “an unnecessary operational burden” on the department and added that he did not know how paying extra to transport migrants to another location was “a justified expenditure.”" https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/11/us/politics/sanctuary-cities-trump.html |
Why is it bad? Because by putting all of the illegal immigrants in small areas it would cause all kinds of hurt for the local governments: feeding them, housing them, educating them, not to mention the strain on medical and police services. It's a way of punishing the cities or locales that are identified as being friendly to immigrants. It's punitive, Trump's favorite way of handling his adversaries or people who don't support him. |
Liberals are on this thread saying that they love illegals and love sanctuary cities- but only think this is bad because Trump. Bull crap. If you really cared about illegals you’d say bring them by the bus load now. NIMBY fakes. |
If they hadn't, you'd be all about it though, right? Give me a break. Those were not your reasons. |
I'm surprised no one has said "Sure, bring them. I'll just put my kids in private school." That's what they do in Fairfax and MoCo. |
1. I absolutely have an issue with Trump's motives. The POTUS should not be trying to punish US citizens who have differing views. And he shouldn't be using human beings as political pawns. 2. I don't necessarily have an issue with his proposed plan -- I'd want to hear more about it before I decide. |
You all keep using words like "punish." Its not a punishment if you want them to come. He knows you want them to come. The cities/state's own laws have declared that these people are a delight. Your assertion that this is a punishment is off when they've stated explicitly that these people are a joy. |
Trump & Miller's intentions were to punish. You don't have a problem with that? |
But they are the fabric of your community and add so much to your community! Their kids go to school with yours! You go to church with them! This isnt a punishment! LOL |
