Something I have a hard time understanding:

GOP attacking Cohen because he is convicted of lying to Congress.
Which means stuff he said to protect or exonerate Trump when he testified to Congress was a lie, and GOP is underscoring that that was a lie.
So how does this help the GOP/Trump exactly?

(I realize this is for the purpose of posturing, but isn't this on the order of digging yourself a deeper hole?)

Really, you can't get that he lied to protect Trump, got caught, and now is telling the truth to avoid further penalties? Seems rather straightforward to me. Plus, none of the stuff that he is telling us about Trump is really a surprise. It's just filling in the blanks.
