Do you have to back into every parking space?

Usually, when I see a car ahead of me backing into a parallel parking space on the street, they’ve used a turn signal and slowed way down as they approached the space, making it obvious what they were about to do. Unfortunately, vast majority of times that a driver ahead of me in a parking lot wants to back into a space, they haven’t used a turn signal or slowed way down. They appear to drive past the open space, then suddenly throw their car into reverse without warning. THAT’S the only part of other drivers backing into parking spaces that bothers me. If you communicate your intentions in advance so I’m not caught off guard by your car suddenly coming at mine in reverse, then I’m fine with your backing in.

This!!!

You always should back into a parking spot. People who don't are not knowledgeable.

I'm usually driving too fast in parking lots, tailgating the people in front of me, and not really paying too much attention because, you know, I'm on this really important phone call, when this jackass in front of me decides that he's going to BACK IN to a parking space! Can you believe it?!?!?

Just park in the the rear, save everyone else (and yourself!) the time--as well as a few lbs.

They are almost always fat. Facts.

Yes. If someone hits you backing out it’s atull your fault.

Nope. I don’t make or take phone calls or text while driving. “Tailgating” is the term you use for people suddenly driving at you in reverse? Most people consider tailgating to be following another car too closely. I’m never too close unless I’m driving forward and the car in front of me decides to drive in reverse without warning. I wonder why it is that I never “tailgate” cars on the street who use turn signals?

I have noticed this, as well.

You are ridiculous. Obviously hit a nerve with you about your parking skills.

I know that person is going to come back with their purchases and try to load them into their car -- somehow (not sure what their plan was) -- and they won't be able to open the trunk because my bumper is in the way.
Park the way God intended -- forward.

Trunks open up not out. Are you saying you park your car on top of the one in front of you?

The morons that park like this drive SUVs. The trunk opens up and out. Except when my car is 1/8" away.

Still not a problem. If their lift gate scrapes across your hood when opening because you thought you were getting one over on them, that’s your problem. The nicks on the underside of the gate won’t be visible to them.

If there isn’t enough room to open the doors for groceries, then your car is going to get hit as they are loading little Johnny and Susie into the backseat, and Grandma Mary into the front.

Same goes for people pulling forward into into a spot. Always cracks me up when I see a compact car that is super crooked or pulled all the way to one side in a spot. If I can back my SUV into a spot in 1 move AND be centered between the lines, then they should be able to do the same.

Only on DCUM would this topic be a fight.

I'm fine with people backing in, as long as they don't totally suck at it. Which of course, many do.
