List of things you can’t do while black

You need some context here. Did the cop come to your door over a complaint? Were you walking in the neighborhood? Had a crime been committed and the cop was asking if you saw anything suspicious etc. In my life I've had all happen to me and I'm a white male.

If pp had to show ID to prove that he lived in the neighborhood, then the cop clearly wasn't asking him if he saw anything suspicious.

Maybe so but I'd guess it's happened to any black man more times than any white man.

So many things you can’t do while black.
And that’s why there’s a new hotline, 1-844-WYT-FEAR.
It’s a phone service for white people to call when they can’t cope with black people living their lives near them.

He just does what he wants quietly though but it is embarrassing. He now lives in Thailand and in an apartment in Germany. He is treated with utmost respect everywhere else in the world but in the US. Oh, he had to buy another car because someone hated him for driving a luxury vehicle and put a contaminant in his gas tank. It was investigated and the cops said he should know better than to drive a car that nice. You work hard to retire early at 57 and this is what you get in America as a black man.

Wow, you just brought up a memory that I think I tried to block out. I went to a dealership in VA earlier this year to purchase a car with cash. The car was 22k and I made it clear that it was an all cash transaction. Along the way subtle assumptions kept being made by the Finance lady that I was somehow financing the car through my credit union or some other means, because surely by "cash" I did not mean my own.

They even ran my credit without my permission. Why would a credit check need to be done on a cash--yes, my cash, transaction??

Age poorly unless you’re really trying

Other than racism, do you think there are underlying causes for these instances?

To be fair, this same stuff happens to white people buying $75k cars. Car dealerships are fun for no one.

Awful.

Forget police body cams, young black men need to where body cams so they can prove they are JUST shopping or gardening or walking down the street.

Oh and let’s not forget caregiving. A black man caring for a non verbal autistic man was still shot by Florida police while laying spread eagle on the ground:

Fortunately he lived.
