My house may be haunted

For the smart ass who laughed at "smudging," I do it all the time when I have been in contact with negative energy and this was also something done by American Indians. I smudge around myself whenever I feel angry with someone else or with myself. It works because the negative energy I am feeling or transmitting dissapates.

Don't laugh or scoff at practices because there is so much we don't know.

Can you explain how you do this? I am interested (seriously). I have a lot of negative energy around me right now and could use a lift. Thanks in advance.

To those who are saying, "talk nicely to the ghost... say goodbye, talk about the weather" or otherwise acknowledging the presence -

I had heard that acknowledging a presence gives it more energy and power. And that you should never ever acknowledge a "bad" spirit. This is why they say you should never use an Ouija board. So unless you are sure you can tell a good one from a bad one.... be forewarned.

I saw a priest give this advice in an episode of "A Haunting"

- The Diabolical

Marie Potter has always known that her mentally handicapped daughter Julie has the ability to communicate with paranormal entities, but it seems rather harmless to her. However, when odd occurrences begin to take place, Marie and her new boyfriend Chris use a Ouija board in an attempt to find out what Julie is communicating with, and inadvertently open a gateway for a demonic force.

NO. 1--OP and anyone else who feels the presence of an unknown entity, simply say, "If you are from the Light, You are welcome. If not, you are not welcome and LEAVE IMMEDIATELY!"

Back to question re Smudge sticks. These are made up of various herbs, straw, etc., and you can prchase them from Whole Foods or go online.

The Smudge sticks are tied together and you light one end so that it is smoldering and you see the red embers and smoke. I go around the house, or wherever you feel negative energy, and say whatever comes to mind--I say something like, "All negative energy has gone up in smoke and into the ethers and I am free from all anger, anxiety, frustration, etc." Then I run it around my body and pay special attention to head, neck, and heart chakras because that is where my negative energy seems to stay. There are body chakras and I also cleanse these areas, as well. When finished, I also say "Thank you, Spirit, that I am free from all emotions that may harm me."

You can say whatever you wish, but do give thanks. Also, I sometimes (like yesterday, when I felt as though I was enveloped in a black cloud) I let the smudge stick simmer for about ten minutes and meditated. It worked and a situation that was not good ended with peace and goodwill. When putting out the smudge stick, you can sprinkle it with water or put it out by stubbing out in a cup or dish.

I don't question why this works, I only know that it does. Peace to you.

You have rats. No spirit is going to bother with the living. We are way to messed up to deal with.

I was thinking the same thing. It's a bunch of rats upstairs. OP, traps are safer than poison as you have a little one.

OP, whatever happened? Did you call anyone?

Me and my family lived in Zimbabwe for a couple of years and we were renting a home in the suburbs, about 20 minutes outside of the capitol city. The house we lived in always gave me the creeps but I could not put my finger on what it was. There was one acre of land in the front and two acres in the back it could be really dark and creepy at night. One night me and my family (there were five of us) were all standing around talking to each other while in the kitchen. All of a sudden, a can of bug spray leapt off of the counter, sprayed and fell on the ground. We were so scared! Nothing could explain that happening and all five of us witnessed it. I was SO very happy when we moved.

I think close minded people who can't even consider the possibility that something that they don't understand is out there have the lowest IQ.

I don't believe in UFOs in the sense that they're going to fly in and have huge eyes and green skin. But to say that there is no life anywhere else in this galaxy or any other is extremely stupid. It can be a microbe, bacteria any other kind of living organism which we have probably encountered many times.

Secondly, I haven't had an experience with a ghost, but I don't discount the possibility.

After all, it wasn't THAT long ago that people believed the world was flat.

I wonder what happened to the original OP. Did she stay in the house or find out what it was?

Lady, can you hear me? I am throwing my popcorn and Twizzlers at you from my crushed velvet seat as you speak. Get out of the house!

I nominate this as best quote ever on DCUM...

Anyway - I'm very freaked out now. Thanks everyone. It's a great reminder that I want to buy my next house new. Of course I have seen Poltergeist. So dear me, I don't think I can win.

OP - I hope you can get to a resolution with this.

I second all of this!

For my own situation, I used to work at an old country club in the midwest. The club used to have living quarters on the second floor of the club house where two fo the workers used to live. One of them died there. That was factual. The other guy STILL worked at the club and was an older man (the bartender). He lived in the club when the man died.

There were simply too many people who heard/experienced things to say that place was not haunted (of course, the rumor was it was haunted by the former co-worker but who knows.) There were places in the club that were downright creepy, cold, different energy. That's the best I can describe it. Other workers experienced salt/pepper shakers go FLYING down and off tables. Others heard their name being called from the banquet room when they were the only ones still there (i.e., managers closing the place down for the night). I once worked the night shift and got "locked" in the bathroom . . . the bathroom didn't lock. (Though I'm willing to dismiss the latter as the result of an old building).

Creepy stuff.

I could have written this! I'm from St. Louis and worked in a historic country club for 6 years that previously had servants quarters and passages. I was there 40+ hours a week and was never quite comfortable in certain parts of the house, we had decorations go flying in the living room, my boss felt like someone shoved her off the ladder when we were decorating for Christmas. The best one was when I was a supervisor and had a key to the club, so I would often be the last one out. I'd turn off all the lights (running through the upstairs passages), set the alarm, and leave. When I'd get to my car, a light upstairs had come on. One time someone had hidden out in the house and didn't anticipate my leaving schedule, but it happened literally hundreds of times over the years.

Bump, because this thread is awesome, and also I want to know whether the two different PP's are talking about the same country club.
