My house may be haunted

The cat is most active - we hear meowing occasionally and sometimes see the back end of a cat turning the corner into a room. My SIL does girls' weekends here and a friend of hers brought her friend. She came out of the room one morning that the old lady used to use as her personal space, and said "who's the lady with the cat?" She was told nothing and she's a sensitive.

Interesting stuff.

Do you all still put guests in that room or does it happen in more than one room?

Where are you all planning to die, ifnot at home, which is the preference these days? My mom died in hospice at home from cancer. It was perfectly notmal.

This makes no sense. Ghosts don't necessarily haunt the place they died, they haunt a place that was important to them.

By the way I don't believe in ghosts, but if they do exist, it would make no sense to chain them to the place where they died only.

OP, I am very sensitive. Not quite what you would call psychic, but close. I see and hear spirits occasionally. Our house is haunted. Ghost Hunters actually filmed here.

If the spirit is scaring you or your child, tell it. Next time you see, hear, smell, or feel presence say out loud, "You are scaring us. We need you to stop or you will have to leave". If you want the spirit to leave, you can just tell it to go. 99% of the time a spirit will leave when asked.

The "ghost" cannot hurt you. It is spirit in a physical world. Spirit cannot manipulate physical objects very easily. You don't need to be afraid. Just decide whether you are comfortable having the spirit around or whether you want it to leave. Consider that it is very likely a protective entity.

Dying a natural death at home does not mean that the house will become haunted. It only means that someone chose to die in the comfort and security of their own home. Death is sad but it is a normal and inevitable part of life.

They could die in the hospital and still come back to their house if there is something is making them restless.

I am no expert on this, but somehow I think that the spirit feels the "right" to be there because they feel as though they still "own" the property or have a strong connection to the owner of the property.

For instance, a person may love a vacation rental property that they have visited annually for years but they also know that the property doesn't belong to them anymore than their old dorm room back in college belongs to them. Now maybe if they met a sudden tragic end on the property that would change their life connection to the property...they have a right to be there because that is where their life ended.

I think a friendly presence will see that you ARE scared and will back off without you asking. But talking to something that isn't friendly is not a good idea. Shut off it's power by ignoring it. Acknowledging it is the worst thing that you can do.

My mother passed away in a car accident when I was almost 11 years old, and the next year, my dad moved my whole family to a different state. I was relieved, as I had been relentlessly bullied for my entire school career up to this point. I saw this as my chance to start over, change my personality and hopefully have friends.

I did make friends, and at a sleepover one night, one of the girls pulled out an Ouija board, and we started to play. We had no less than four or five girls with their hands on the planchette, and another was writing down the letters as they were spelled out.

I had been playing with the planchette, but I got up to get a glass of water. When I came back, I took over the writing duties. This means that during this time, my hands were nowhere near the planchette. The board was on the floor, and I was sitting on the bed.

One of the girls said "Are there spirits present that have a message for one of us?" The planchette started moving rapidly, back, forth, up, down, and I was writing down letters as quickly as possible.

The message? "Claudia says hi magoo". Claudia was my mother's first name. Magoo was her nickname for me as a child. There is no possible way that any of those girls knew EITHER of these things. Those girls swore that my face turned white when I re-read the message. All I really remember was throwing down the notepad and pen, and running back home (thankfully, only two blocks) at midnight in my nightgown, with the other girls running after me. They managed to convince me to come back to the party.

We burned the Ouija board in the outdoor barbecue pit that night

Unfortunately that is rarely true. Spirits don't always realize they are causing fear. Fear can actually cause a spirit to become more active in attempts to comfort. They just don't always understand why or what we are afraid of. They are more tuned into the fear energy than the cause.

Very, very rarely is a spirit "evil". Acknowledging its precence will not make it more powerful. That's just something people who want to cleanse your home to make money started saying. It spread from there. Even so called "bad" spirits will almost always leave when asked. The only thing you risk by communicating is inadvertently causing the spirit to remain with you. Most of the time that can be remedied by a quick sage.

Seriously, there are lots of "psychics" and "priests/shaman" who make money perpetuating fear. You can ask a spirit to leave you alone and those simple words are usually all it takes. I always advise people to carefully consider asking spirit to leave altogether. Most of the time the spirit is there for your benefit.
