For all those saying she grew up UMC, read this. She grew up LMC and went to a private school because her father won the lottery. Her siblings and extended family are all blue collar. |
She started private catholic school before the lottery win, but it certainly helped. They lived a solid middle-class life. He was a union lighting director in regular television and is an Emmy winner. He was the Lighting Director on a hot sitcom (Married with Children) when she was growing up. Like many much younger siblings, she benefitted from her parents more lucrative earning years in middle age and that her dad probably didn’t have to struggle as much and had more time for her too. Pretty normal. |
This article says that he won the lottery when Meghan was 9, when he was making about $200,000 per year and was sending her to a private elementary, The Little Red Schoolhouse. The article says he was later able to send her to Immaculate Heart Catholic School, an all girls' school for grades 6-12, with help from his lottery earnings. I wouldn't characterize someone in these circumstances as growing up lower middle class. |
+1 I'm not seeing anything unusual or "embarrassing" about her upbringing. Sorry, haters. The interview with her older half brother was very sweet. He clearly thinks the world of her and is very happy for her. It's her older half sister who seems like the spotlight seeking, embarrassing sibling. There's usually one in every family. |
Agreed. Her father was making $200K per year, in the 90s. This was BEFORE he won the lottery. If that's not middle class, I don't know what is middle class. |
That's actually not middle class. Truly middle class people aren't making 200k per year now so they certainly weren't making anything close to that back in the early 90s! |
Exactly! |
