The overlapping of entitlement programs and inefficiencies in delivery of federal benefits is a thing among conservatives. Liberals don't care how much money is wasted with redundancies as long as it is somebody else's money paying for it.

I think it's great that upper-middle income people might have to pay a few thousand dollars more in taxes. Lower-middle income people (two people living on less than $70k GROSS are LM in DMV) were screwed by Obamacare, and none of you liberals cared.

Liberals wanted to fix the problems that cropped up with Obamacare. Cons just want to throw it all away and let the health insurance company CEOs run everything.

My brother, who works very hard as law enforcement in a very poor, rural area in Virginia, has 2 kids on CHIP. He is a rapid Trump supporter and Fox News viewer. He insists, despite all evidence to the contrary, that CHIP doesn't use taxpayer funds and is a "discount program."

I'm starting to get nervous for my niece and nephew and their health care and I asked him what the plan was if/when Virginia ran out of funds. He started screaming at me that high healthcare and insurance costs were the fault of women entering the workforce; if we stayed at home like we should, then everything would be cheaper.

So, he doesn't have a plan. Neither do I, really.

The GOP is chasing investment from corporations, but they’re forgetting - or ignoring - that private industry relies heavily on public investment. In infrastructure, security, environment and, yes, human capital. Even if every business relies on automation from here on out, every business needs humans to develop and build it and then consume - that is, BUY - what that business produces.

Over 800 MILLION workers will be replaced by machines by 2030. Only 13 years from now. Will there be enough Trump “coal cleaning” jobs because those new factories are going to be automated.

The fundamental difference is that conservatives believe that people should be personally responsible for their decisions and actions. Yes, there are those who need help because their circumstances are such that society has an obligation to give them a helping hand but they represent a fractional minority and in most instances the help is of a temporary nature.

Liberals have much looser standards in terms of who deserves assistance and as a result we have tens of millions of people who are on some sort of assistance that is just not warranted. It creates a culture of dependency and that is not healthy or desirable.
