Orrin Hatch is tired of funding CHIP

But he's good with the tax plan benefiting the rich passive investor (as opposed to the rich working person).

Apparently the quote during debate was:

“[L]et me tell you something: we’re going to do CHIP. There’s no question about it in my mind. It’s got to be done the right way. But we, the reason CHIP’s having trouble is because we don’t have money anymore.”

Hatch went on to condemn the idea of “more and more spending.” After praising the “terrific job” CHIP has done for families who need help, he immediately added, “I have a rough time wanting to spend billions and billions and trillions of dollars to help people who won’t help themselves – won’t lift a finger – and expect the federal government to do everything.”

Why don't we propose legislation to put all those CHIP kids to work in coal mines? And we could have a special provision for the coal mine owners that they pay no tax at all!

He is disgusting just like all of the Republicans. Shame on him. Shame on us as a country.

They are so disgusting.

This is just the beginning. After blowing a hole in then deficit, the GOP is coming for ALL social safety net programs by saying we can’t afford them anymore. Essentially the tax cut will be paid for by those most in need.

Yes it’s the republican dream to return America to a pre-New Deal society where tons of people including many seniors lived in Third World conditions.

This is the goal. But if the tax changes are going to go into effect in 2019, then there's enough time to realize and rewrite tax "reform".

PP - but good luck taking the tax breaks away from the rich who can afford mega campaign contributions. This bill really is a way to get the Treasury to refund campaign contributions made to the Republicans...

I will have those 9 million CHIP children in mind next November 2018.

If they do not fix CHIP, perhaps we should start a CHIP quilt movement - people sew squares together representing the millions of recipients, that stretches from LA to DC.

You can thank the Supreme court for that.

Why would anyone disagree with what is shown in bold?

Thank you for finally saying it, Senator Hatch. It's become an epidemic of laziness at this point.

That's not what CHIP is. That's my disagreement with what Hatch just said.

CHIP is children's health insurance. It's not helping people who won't lift a finger.

Ok if the poor are as lazy as you say - what's your solution? Let them rot and starve? Let them endure horrid working conditions?

What were their lives like before the new deal?

So much disdain for those you deem unworthy- when the reality is you'd rather have them scraping by the skin of their teeth than pay taxes for a social safety net.

If they're lazy, let them f'n starve.

What are these horrid working conditions? A short order cook at Denny's is horrid? WTF are you talking about? Clarify yourself.

The social safety net is so GD big right now, it's breaking under it's own weight.

Stop trying to turn us into a welfare state.
