Why to people like going to 'the beach'? It's so boring.

I've noticed that people who don't like the beach tend to look bad in a bikini. Makes sense.

This.

http://www.newsday.com/travel/the-delaware-shore-1.3724550 How could THAT possibly be relaxing or fun? I try to be open minded but I'm perplexed by this one.

I look pretty terrible in a bikini and haven't worn one in a good 10 years, but I still love the beach.

It's ok for a couple of days, but it is boring to sit and or lay around all day, it's hot, biting flies, drinking too much booze, then there is sun damage, hair damage, tourist trap prices. I just don't get the appeal. Why do people like it SOOO much?

Why do poeple like anything? They just do. I personally don't understand how people like camping, but folks thing it's great. Different strokes for different folks.

I get OP. I'm good for a few hours tops. My kids and I get bored and the sand everywhere plus the heat gets to be too much.

If you look good in a bikini or surf .. There is nothing better. Pure sex appeal.

Really? You dredged up an 8 month old thread to say that?

Anonymous wrote:I think it depends what you mean by going to the beach. We spend the summer on Cape Cod. But we only go to the beach a few times a week and sometimes only for an hour at the end of the work day. We do plenty of other water based things - walk on the beach, kayak, paddleboard, sail, motor boat, plus biking, playing tennis, etc. So for us going to the beach does not necessarily mean literally being on the beach all day.

This. We have a place in south Carolina. We always go out and fish, collect oysters, go crabbing, kayaking, biking, the kids love surfing, tennis, and golf. We also got into Charleston a lot (so much to do there!) and will sometimes make any day trip into Savannah. Even though we have a house here, we always find new stuff to do.

I'm not sure how someone could be bored, but to each their own.

We just came back from a South Carolina beach vacation. It wasn’t warm enough to swim in the water but the kids spent hours each day bulldog sand castles and flying kites. We just love being near the water.

Many of my beach and sun loving family and friends are now dealing with wrinkles and skin cancer surgery in their 40's and 50's. That is another reason to hate the beach.

Because the beach is the only place you can do that.

I LOVE the beach, but we've been going as a family since I was a baby. I also love to read, so yes, that helps lol. Pre-baby I could ready 10 books in a week at the beach, it was glorious! DC's almost old enough that I can probably get back to half of that this year.

DH loves to people watch, I love to be in the water as well, DC would live on the beach if allowed, it's just a happy, relaxing time for us.

God I hate beaches. I hate seeing all the fat, pasty people. I hate laying on dirt and getting burnt and I hate how boring it is! I'd take backpacking in Peru, a week in France or even a good national park over the beach (all of which cost the same as the damn beach). I can only do the beach for 2 days before I'm bored out of my mind. And yes, I do look good in a bikini!
