Anti-Muslim encounter at Reston Trader Joe's

This far left faux outrage crap is just dumb.

You clearly have a very limited view of the world. Canada is way more tolerant and generous with its people than the US is. And "free" doesn't mean you should be able to get an automatic assault rifle so easily.

This is just not true.... and you know it.
If it were, this type of post would be commonplace. It isn’t.
She was hateful, bigoted, ill-informed, and just an ugly person.
Most of the people I know who voted for Trump would condemn this type of behavior.
And, maybe if you actually talked to someone who voted for Trump, you could ask them what they think. Because, this isn’t it.

Actually, anecdotally for me, every Trump supporter I know is JUST like this.

+1

Every single one

Boom. Exactly. This woman just made the mistake of accidentally blurting out her true beliefs to a stranger. Most Trump voters think exactly these same things.

That was no accident. And here's another Trump supporter expressing her views towards minorities. This Trumpster does think everyone who voted for Trump feels the same way as she does.

Apparently this incident is much worse than the woman body slammed at the swimming pool because that thread is only two pages deep.

+1. There's still a non-zero chance this is a hoax. Also, I just can't get too worked up about a random person saying mean (or even racist, sexist, or homophobic) things to another adult. It's awful for sure. But it's happened to lots of us, and we are generally able to move on from it without too much trouble.

Physical violence is way more of a big deal to me.

True, but I think what happened at the pool would've happened if it was a black woman telling those guys to tone it down, too. What happened at TJ is much more relevant to the political and social climate of Trumplandia.

1. It seems unusual that the blonde woman hasn't been identified yet.
2. The video was originally shared by a comedian who makes it clear that he wants to be credited as the original source (driving immense traffic to his FB page).
3. Th woman who took the video isn't giving any interviews or identifying herself.
4. No news sources have been able to confirm the story with anyone other than the comedian.
I don't doubt whatsoever that this kind of stuff happens every day and I don't fault the woman who took the video for not wanting the attention, but all these things combined don't add up to me.

Man. The level of denial by white people about obviously provable facts is astounding, once they have the benefit of anonymity.

Stuff like this happens on a daily basis in America. Perpetrated by white people. Go talk to some Muslim, brown or black friends about this, if you have any.

I don't think he's questioning whether incidents like this happen, or whether people are as rabidly xenophobic as this woman appears to be. We've all seen or heard of incidents like this, and worse. Rather, the user seems to be questioning whether this specific incident is legit, or whether it was staged as an internet prank to get attention. Recall the recent video of a man who claimed he was being kicked off a commercial airline flight because he was Muslim. Turned out the guy was a YouTube prankster who does things like that for a lark, for the attention it gets. Thus, it's not out of the realm of possibility that, while the attitude displayed here is quite real and common throughout this country, the video itself may be a hoax. At this point, I'm not sure, myself, but the truth will eventually come to light.

I doubt it was an accident. It was like she went in looking for a fight. Maybe she even went to Reston, an area that's pretty diverse, for that reason.

We have no way of knowing whether that pool incident would have happened to a black lady. But let's say it did happen to a black lady. I'd still be more disturbed and outraged by that incident than by someone saying horribly cruel and inappropriate words.

Maybe we are really more outraged by this because the perpetrator happens to be on trend.

The woman’s anti-Muslim rant is distressing. It saddens me, not just for the expressed bigotry, but because it exemplifies how some people don’t feel at all constrained anymore to be civil in public, to filter their private prejudices when interacting with others.

But there’s also a troubling double-standard, with a baying e-mob eager to humiliate, out, fire and basically ruin a private individual over an offensive temper tantrum in a supermarket. Yet just a few miles away, politicians and "community leaders" in DC slobber over how to “honor” the late Mayor Barry, a convicted criminal who as a public official, consistently over many years spouted (and incited) racist speech against Asian shopkeepers, Korean-American school administrators, Filipino nurses, Caucasians, etc. Naming public university buildings, renaming high schools, erecting statutes with public money, all of the above are under consideration.

There's a lot of actual real violent crime, public official corruption, World War III pending ... and the news leads with this fake garbage?

I don't know, maybe blast this rapist's picture on the news instead:

I wonder if she has lost her job yet?

My friend in Reston can't wait to run into her in a TJs and tell her what she thinks about her racist entitled white Mumbo-jumbo. I grew up in that area and would never live there again.

There is nowhere in the D.C. area where most people are more accepting of diversity than Reston. You sound more than a little unhinged.

I'm amazed that she hasn't been outed yet.
