I also think he's dead because the kids seem to talk about him in the past tense. I don't think gastric cancer, though, because Randall was researching that like crazy--and if his adopted dad had died of that, I bet he'd already know it all. I also like the maybe-manic story line with Randall--I wonder if he's manic-depressive, or just has manic tendencies. I think the weight issue is a little odd--how many really obese people are there with super skinny bio parents and siblings, unless there's an odd hormonal cause? My bet on cause of death for Milo-Dad is that they will make it seem like it's going to be alchohol related or something, and then he'll just suddenly get hit by a bus on the way to the kids' birthday party or something like that. |
Oooooh I could see that also. Like maybe Jack dies in some freak accident and the Miguel is there for Rebecca and the kids and then they end up developing a relationship? |
Unlikely the dad became an alcoholic - all references to him by the kids have been what an amazing dad he was, that they were raised by amazing parents. (together they are a "10"!) |
I agree that the dad is dead, but my son calls both my dad and my stepdad (who was my mom's AP 25 years ago) "grandpa". |
I thought this while I watched the second episode. She's trying so hard to lose weight without the scale budging. They elude to her binge eating in the first episode, but it seems like she dieted as a child and has been dieting/exercising for a bit in the second. Wish she'd get her thyroid checked or something! |
What if she were switched at birth?!
But also my sil's mom was like that growing up. Trying to be helpful (I mean really trying), but screwing up the trust and the relationship along the way. My SIL isn't even big, and her mom would make comments. Hard to believe bc her mom is like the sweetest innocent person. But it's more like the love doesn't know HOW, and they have it all wrong, and they're emotional over it too. Etc etc. |

This is EXACTLY what is bothering me. I think the writers were trying a little too hard to be PC, but there's no way I buy this articulate, wise, interesting gentleman as a former addict who doesn't even remember leaving his baby at a fire station. Completely implausible. |
Completely agree. That was so, so cheesy. Also, the show is quite schmaltzy. I hate the way the parents (Mandy and Milo) constantly refer to each other as "babe" or "baby." It's as if the writers thought this would be appealing somehow, but I just find it fake and grating. That said, I'm enjoying the show - but the schmaltz and melodrama are getting to me. |
I agree. I'm wondering if the dad (Milo) finds he can't stop drinking, which leads to the parents divorcing. Or if he dies somehow, and the mom (Mandy) remarries his best friend. I guess they'll explain how they wound up together, but so much of this show is very predictable. |
I found it odd that she hadn't even considered gastric bypass. She's not just a little overweight, and it must be insurmountable to try and lose that weight just by dieting and exercising. Gastric bypass would at least give her a fighting chance. I love her character, and also her goofy boyfriend. |
I just read an interview with the actress that plays the main sister. She is pretty anti gastric bypass, at least for herself, but suggested she wouldn't have a problem with the character considering it. |
You are so naive...Also, isn't the father of the triplets an addict too? |
Really? How so? You mean because he drinks too much? ![]() |
Hey, you young whippersnapper, the Iran hostage crisis began in 1979. And as I posted somewhere up thread, I read some articles around when the show premiered, and the producers were saying the siblings were born in 1979. |
