I'm not a fan of the demonizing and mocking of spouses, but after the class of the Obamas, it's hard to look at these two as being their follow up.

The linked article indicates that the pictures were taken in '96 for a French magazine. 20 years ago. That would make Melania around 25/26 at the time.

As far as whether or not she was "high fashion" or not is not really the issue - it was still modeling work. There are different levels of modeling and different types of modeling jobs. A JC Penney clothes catalog might not be high end work but it is still work. I have no clue what level Melania was modeling at but it appears that the photos were professional work done for a magazine.
