Teen needs to miss a week at her internship this summer due to family vacation ...

OP here. She took the week off. The guidelines said that missing time was "expected" But my first priority is my daughters health. She has a long term chronic illness. It makes me sad just to write this Her work at the internship is a breeze compared to her regular school work and she completed it from her bed Parents - look out for your teens -- they will be adults soon enough.

That's a shame. She is going on vacation and she will be able to complete the internship at home/in bed?

OP here. Vacation is a loaded word. She's at her grandmothers in bed doing her work. It's not a "vacation" in the sense that most people mean.

My nephew - rising college sophomore - isn't working this summer because he couldn't find a job that would agree to a week off in July. His parents agreed beach week is more
Important than making money.

Sorry, I'm confused. You initially said that she needed to miss a week at her internship due to a family vacation. But now you've clarified that she will be working from bed at her grandma's house while on vacation? Is she able to complete the internship at home?

Wow. A long planned family vacation is spending the week in bed at her grandmother's? That's what you call vacation???

Exactly how far in advance do you have to schedule time at her grandmother's? Months?

OP, your story changes every time you post. She has a chronic illness or she needs to rest? Or there is a planned family vacation? Did a doctor say she needed to take off a week or was it just you? Which is it?

I have a chronic illness and it sucks. Unfortunately, life (and work) don't stop for me. You've provided your DD with an excellent example of how the world actually DOES revolve around her. What an incredible disservice you've done.

Yeah, now your story is changing.

I doubt any employer's "guidelines" have something like this. Your daughter will end up regretting this, and since you are now saying it is a trip to Grandma's, that is something that could have waited.

If she's telecommuting over a long weekend why is she missing an entire week of the internship??

What kind of internship lets you telecommute? Also, if she's telecommuting, then she really isn't "taking of" because she is still working.
