It would alarm me regardless of the kids race, religion or ethnicity. The school has to protect hundreds of kids during school hours-the clock or whatever the fuck it was looked suspicious-it did not look like a clock-but a small black leather , steel framed case with crude wiring and electrical tape. I think the school made the right call-perhaps the police could have questioned the kid more, called in his parents, or even bomb experts to inspect the device/clock. Perhaps this kid is a future engineer with lots of good to give back to the world, perhaps he is a future terrorist who will use his skills for evil. None of us know what his future holds-but I know that if my kid was in class with that kid, and brought that "clock" in (this is not the potato clock or a snap circuit kiddie type looking clock)-I would be happy to know the school took all the right steps as a precaution to protect my child. These are scary times we live in-a black kid in a hoodie, a muslim kid with a crude looking electronic homeade device, a skinhead white kid with a gun.....they can all be just innocent kids-or they can all pose a threat and do great damage to others.

You know what is amazing about this post? None of those descriptions fit the kids who have committed most atrocities at schools.

I think it fits the Columbine two quite well.

naah-they were Goth loner types!

Neither is black, Muslim, or a skinhead.

looks more like a bomb detonator thing than a clock to me.....

Looks like something my husband would build to fire his camera while he does high-speed photography. I know if he tried to bring that into, say, traffic court, in a backpack, he would be stopped and questioned.

Questioning is fine. Your husband might even be asked to leave it outside of the courtroom. He probably wouldn't be taken away in handcuffs and subject to interrogation.

Why didn't the school officials simply ask the engineering teacher what it was? Surely that person could confirm that it was a clock.

The news tonight said that while the police dropped charges, the school suspension stands. Why on earth is a school insisting on suspending this student?
Really, is this the nation in which I live?

Looks like it could easily be made into a bomb with some explosive material and a bit of re-wiring.....

Real bombs-they look a bit similar to what this kid made-less like a clock

Sadly yes-post 9-11 and with tons of illegals entering with little to no accountability, Muslims who hate the US (and live in the US), and Trump running for president-Yes-you live in a fucked up country and world!

Well, he is a boy. He is not really aware that there are many inbred imbeciles in Texas like you, resulting in very low IQ.
+ a million!!

I have to agree with the school-don't bring shit in that looks more like a bomb than a clock-especially if you are named Mohammed.

I have a feeling that if the clock this kid made looked like a typical clock and less like a crude bomb device he would not have been so eager to show it off and he would not have gotten into trouble.

Now that's a clock 20:24! Wonder if he made this kind of clock what would have happened-poor kid!

Okay, quit the trolling and sock puppeting. It's not needed for this thread.
