Harvard, Princeton or Yale?

It just seems more cosmopolitan, more glamorous, more artistic than the other schools to me.

Plus F. Scott Fitzgerald went there and that's pretty much the match point.

He dropped out.

None of them.

Try Stanford or Oxford.

My kid did not like the Princeton vibe at all - she found it to preppy and suburban. I don’t think Princeton appeals to city kids.

You probably won’t get accepted at all three (if any), so the choice will be made for you.

Best fit and preference. Any of these schools will do wonders for most kids. ..."Lo que Natura non da, Salamanca non presta"...

I wonder how often, if ever, American white gentile kids are accepted to more than one of HYPS. Everything in the news last 5 years plus that's featured a super student who got into HYPS has been a foreign born Nigerian or first-gen Asians or DACA recipients or the child of affluent black MDs/PhDs.

Princeton has a ton of NYC kids from Dalton, Spence, Collegiate, Hunter College, Stuyvesant, and Bronx HS of Science. Fine if your kid wants to go to NYU or Barnard, but you don't really know what you're talking about.

You are probably right. Over 1/2 million of the kids from our NoVa public going to Ivies in recent years have been URMs. If they are white, they are either legacies or recruited athletes. The type of very smart white kids from middle-class families who were going to Ivies 30 years ago are more likely to end up at UVA, W&M or a SLAC.

Glad you like Yale, but saying "we really love New Haven" is pushing it, don't you think, even by the gushy boosterism standards of DCUM.

Thank you. I'm laughing over that. DC spent two weeks at Yale for a program and turned down New Haven because of the town area.

Huh?

1) He was an alcoholic at Princeton
2) He as on academic probation at Princeton
3) He dropped out of Princeton
4) "This Side of Paradise" is not a complimentary view of Princeton. The headmaster was furious about it. The story is about love being warped by greed and alcoholism. It's original title was "The Romantic Egotist". It was meant as harsh commentary on the lifestyle.

Agreed. If you love New Haven you must be blind or something. Yale has a gorgeous campus but it is located within a sh*thole of a town. Even the streets near campus are sketchy.

Nope. He met Genevra King there, who was the inspiration for some of his characters. Zelda was just the daughter of a Montgomery, Alabama Judge he met after he dropped our of Princeton.
