Looks like the number of disappointed is growing according to polling data out this week. And to find out the White House negotiated the AIG bonuses back in the bail out package while Obama and Gibbs are acting so agast is amazing to me. And $250K might have been rich in DC in 1990, not so much in 2009. |
He's a magician! Left hand does something while the lips are flappin'. You've been hoodwinked! |
And a darn good one at that! |
Competent is a step up from the past 8 years, so I'm happy. |
$250K IS rich, in DC, even now. Yes, it is hard to pay for private school tuition and the mortgage on your $400K + house while fully funding your 401K, saving for college, and paying fo the occasional lesson or class for your kids and yourself, plus the bouncy castle for their borthday party. Please understand that these are problems that THE RICH have. The working class has other problems, like paying for health insurance and food at the same time. As for polling data on Obama, looks to me like he's holding his own just fine. http://www.gallup.com/poll/116845/Obama-Approval-Equal-Better-Bush-Clinton.aspx |
Agreed. This attitude held by so many in this income bracket is so tired. You might feel middle class, but you aren't. Not even close. |
That's a pretty low standard. It's like "Well, TGI Friday's is better than McDonalds". Both are crap. |
Piling on here. Agreed! |
I think O will break Bush's record of stupidity. |
It seems strange that with 250 K family income then you are not considered middle class or even working class. Many family I know are double earners, one working for the government and the other working in IT. With ten or twenty year experience under belt the total income could break 250K. None in management and the one in IT usually have to work his butt off. |
Oh come on. Even many people who disagree with Obama philosophically concede that he isn't stupid. |
Sorry, they may work their butts off, no argument there. And no, a HHI of $250K isn't filthy rich, like earning over a million a year would be. But it is rich. You are earning that much, you are earning more than the VAST majority of people in the US and even of people in the DC area. If you are worried about how to pay your child's $20K school tuition, you have a concern that RICH people have. That doesn't make yo a bad person. Rich people can be very nice people. But, you are rich. You need to rethink what it means to be "working class". Do you know what minimum wage is? |
Just FINE is correct. Average. Comaring him to Carter who was a miserable president (and Obama seems to be walking in his shoes) Carter's approval ratings 60 days in were at 72%. Obama's disapproval ratings are climbing weekly. Up 10 points since his first day. |
I don't think 250K is rich in areas of the country like DC but that isn't the point to me. In America you shoud be able to dream big and work toward it without being penalized. Somewhere along the line this attitude of "entitlement" has sprouted up that the government should pay your healthcare, bail you out if you lose your job or screw up a business. No people need to take responsibility for their own lives and stop this notion that if you aren't doing well it's someone else's fault or that you are entitled to someone else's wealth.

I don't think I am entitled to the government paying my health care. But I am entitled to work hard to create a system whereby we the people of the United States decide that the majority WANTS basic health care to be available to all citizens regardless of their income or circumstances. In the same way that here in my county, we have books available for all at the library, at no cost to those who use them. On the national level, we subsidize so much. We subsidize agriculture. People are actually paid to NOT grow food crops to keep prices high enough that farmers can make a living. We completely fund defense from the national budget. Defense keeps us all safe here at home. We fund regulation and inspection of food producers to be sure that there is no salmonella in our peanut butter (well, we try to anyway) to keep us safe and healthy. Why can't we subsidize health care, if that's what the majority of the public wants? We want to be safe and healthy from terrorist attacks (as much as we can, nothing is certain), and we want to be safe from cancer and infectious diseases (as much as we can, nothing is certain). We're not entitled to it, but we want it, and are willing to vote to fund it. No, not everyone wants it -- but not every one wanted to fund the war on Iraq. But we had to , anyhow. Or, we had the right to protest it. |
