I guess you were not born then. Bill Casey met with them in Madrid in July 1980 and October 1980. The Iranian hostages were released 20 minutes after Reagan's inauguration. Arms shipments have been identified as early as July 1981. There is a Frontline episode about it that aired in 1991 which will provide all of the sources on the subject. A number of American and foreign arms dealers involved said it. Also Yitzak Shamir, frmr Iranian President Banisadr, Gary Sick. A former head of French Intelligence. |
You still haven't given a link. These are mostly allegations on left wing sites. |
I gave you real people and a documentary. Those are all sources. I honestly don't know why you are that hung up on this anyway. It is public record that Reagan traded arms for the hostages in Lebanon. That was Iran Contra, and it was bad enough. It is only slightly worse that it began prior to the 1980 election. |
| I agree that Iran Contra was bad. Question: What were we doing at the annex in Benghazi? |
Most likely arranging for arms to be smuggled to the Syrian resistance. Not trading them for hostages. |
You are asking what the CIA might have been doing in a war-torn country? Really? We are providing covert, i.e. non-public, assistance to the people who we want to see succeed in that country. |
| Didn't say we were doing it for hostages. However, giving weapons to those who may not be our friends is not such a good thing either. |
I couldn't agree more. The situation in Libya itself is evidence of that. |
| I am a Republican conservative, but there is some reason that Boehner has stayed out of this Benghazi mess. I think that it is because he knew what was going on there. |
Should we just make all CIA operations public? Not sure why you are entitled to public disclosure about this but not the rest of what they do. |
