Are Boys Bullied for being Uncircumcised?

If that isn't proof that there are health benefits I don't know what else is.

"Male Circumcision (MC)

UNAIDS and the World Health Organization (WHO) have issued normative guidance stating that male circumcision should be recognized as an additional important intervention to reduce the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in men. PEPFAR supports MC as a component of a comprehensive HIV prevention program in sub-Saharan Africa, and is working to scale up quality MC programs as feasible and appropriate to the country context. In its next phase, PEPFAR is transitioning to a two-pronged MC assistance approach. This approach would simultaneously support the immediate demand for MC and allow governments to develop policies and the necessary infrastructure for more sustained service delivery.

The comprehensive MC interventions supported by PEPFAR include not only the MC surgery, but risk reduction counseling, sexually transmitted infection treatment, and HIV testing and counseling."

And no Jews were involved in the lobby efforts? Non-Jewish Europeans would not have agreed, any more than they would suggest female circumcision for little girls. They believe all genital mutilation to be barbaric, male and female. Why is that?

this is eye opening. It's funny how we in the us try to forgo science while there is a global push towards it.

The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) said in 2011 it would help pay for 4.7 million or more voluntary circumcisions over the next two years.

Mpho Dorothy Seretse of Botswana’s health ministry, Jonathan Grund of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and colleagues in nine African countries reported on circumcisions in PEPFAR-funded clinics between 2010 and 2012.

“During 2010–2012, approximately 1,020,424 males were circumcised at CDC-supported sites in the nine countries,” they wrote in the CDC’s weekly report on death and illness. It takes a while to gather this kind of information and the report doesn’t say how many men were circumcised in 2013. But it notes the numbers jumped every year, from 137,000 circumcisions in 2010 to more than 500,000 last year.

Several studies have shown that circumcising heterosexual men reduces their infection rate by at least 60 percent and some studies show it’s by 65 percent or more. Africa bears the brunt of the AIDS pandemic; 70 percent of all people infected with the human immunodeficiency virus live in Africa.

Circumcision protects men for a number of reasons. The foreskin is full of the immune system cells that are the most vulnerable to the virus. The tender tissue can also get tiny tears and scratches during sex that give the virus an easier entry point. And men with foreskins are far more likely to get other sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and syphilis, which, in turn, raise the likelihood of HIV infection.

I believe the studies you are talking about (with the 60 percent number) has been discredited.

In developed regions where there is clean water and better sanitation, it isn't an issue

Guys do not spend that much time starting at each other's penises in the locker room, they just don't.

I don't really care how you feel about circumcision one way or the other, but I wish people could actually have a conversation about it without resulting to myths, stereotypes, and unfounded conjecture.

Don't know where you've been but, an uncircumcised penis is a big turn off for a lot of women.....from a woman

Um, well, maybe for you it is, but you're hardly 'a lot of women.'

The question is about locker-room bullying from boys, not women's attitudes.

I am a woman and strongly prefer uncut. It looks more normal and the sex is (generally) better.

But this begs the question: are you actually suggesting that it is reasonable to cut part of one gender's genitals merely to please the aesthetic sense of the other gender? Very bad reasoning in my opinion.

Obama supports circumcision

I’m pleased to note that we have achieved much of this because President Obama was determined to set a higher standard, and he sort of glossed over it in his own comments, but that was a very significant commitment. On World AIDS Day two years ago, the President challenged us to reach six million more people with live-saving treatment, to provide 1.5 million HIV-positive pregnant women with treatment for their own health and to prevent onward transmission to their children, and to reach 4.7 million men with voluntary medical male circumcision services for HIV prevention.

They would only dare suggest this if the victim is the man. Suggesting that women cut off their unsightly labia would meet with outrage.

Well, perhaps this has something to do with Bill Gates generous support of President Obama.

You are an idiot!

Most Eastern and Western Europeans are not circ'd. So, your aesthetic reasoning is very ignorant. Obviously, you don't travel much or have contact with others outside your immediate family and cousins.

Most people except the homeless and very poor bathe and have decent hygiene. Ironically, Arabs (not talking about Bedouins) are extremely clean and make all Westerners look like filthy pigs.

Cancer and Aids have no correlation to cancer. I'm presuming you never got past elementary school.

I personally think to circ or not to circ is no big deal. I asked my husband what he wanted for our son and he wanted him circ'd So I said ok. But, not because of your reasons. I just thought since my husband would have more toilet training duties (which ended up not being case) my son would see and compare his to his dad's.

Most people are having a hard time explaining why the sex is better with uncirc'd guys, let me enlighten you... The extra skin acts as a ribbing for extra stimulation. And when erect the foreskin is not noticeable so blow jobs are no different. Obviously your cousins did not provide enough pleasure for you.

Yes.

A lot of these comments tell you it won't matter. But trust me, it will- I go to an all boys school, and am extremely afraid of the other guys finding out I'm uncut. There are all sorts of jokes they can make. And yes, there are comebacks to this ridiculing, but when it's 4 circumcised guys make fun of one who isn't.... They can simply support each other. I've heard jokes about other kids being uncut. Yes, I guarantee they can get made fun if for it.
