Oh my God, yes. What a horrible movie. |
Because the movie did a great job tapping into the main character's personalities and dynamic. |
Loved it! (And James

Such shite:
Love Actually Titanic Avatar Forrest Gump English Patient, most likely - fell asleep in the first 15 minutes so can't be completely sure Tarantino generally Anything Andrew Lloyd Weber |
I didn't get the feeling there was tons of critical acclaim for that one. I liked it, because I used to live in Paris, and miss it. The characters from the past were entertaining. But I never heard anyone call it a "great" movie. |
The ache of loneliness personified. The fact that two people can spark in the unlikeliest circumstances. The universality of the need for real, human connection. |
| Good Will Hunting |
I didn't think it was "brilliant," but having lived in Japan for awhile, I could totally relate to many of the cultural references and confusions. |
That part I get, but not PP's comment about tapping into the "main character's personalities and dynamic." This couldn't be more vague. |

I would try to explain it, but I slept through most of it. Tried to watch it again. Same thing. Rachel Getting Married was so bad I had a hard time watching any movie after that because I was so traumatized. Horrific. Anne Hathaway's acting was terrible - couldn't understand how she received an Oscar nomination. While I'm on the subject, she was terrible in Les Mis and I also thought that was a terrible movie. Waaay overrated. |
+1 |
| Forrest Gump for sure. |
You suck!! |

To the person who posted the fiat comment about Fletch, I love you. Right back at you:
I'll have a steak sandwich, and.....a steak sandwich. Lost in Translation was good because: It is about being lost in a completely different culture an even within a marriage, a la scar Jo in that movie. Also the romance and love they have for each other is subtle and not rom com cheesy. (Spoiler alert) She doesn't run off with him in the end, he just whispers to her, something unknown and they part ways. Tragic, romantic and realistic. |
