How much do you weigh?

"I keep reading about people's "metabolism" slowing down. How do you know? I would not use that as an excuse. Losing weight is not difficult if you reduce what you eat. Exercise all you want, it's great for maintaining your weight and for your health, but don't count on it as weight loss magic. Really, really monitor what you're eating. I will almost guarantee you it's *not* your metabolism, it's something you're doing. The whole metabolism thing along with people who think that after exercising for 2 weeks they're gaining serious muscle irritate me. "

How old are you? Trust me, your metabolism will change at some point.

Usually people's metabolism slows down because they loose so much muscle mass as they age. Weight training is very important (this said from a cardio only exerciser)...

I imagine that your 10 lbs are a permanent loss since you're losing it gradually - especially if you keep up with exercise.

Of course, I did recently lose about 50 pounds, so they are probably reacting to the difference, but it is so funny to see how much more I weigh than others. The thing is, I like myself at this weight. I'm still curvy, look great in clothes, and for the first time in years I don't cringe at myself in pictures!

I also think a lot of it is how you hold your weight, and how muscular you are. I hold weight very well, I have to say. Not that I want to be holding it, but you gotta look on the "plus" side of things sometimes.

That is at least a size 12. Maybe by "tiny" people mean you're short because that certainly isn't a healthy weight for that height.

No. I'm a size 12 and I'm 5'5", weigh 230 lbs. I also "carry weight well and my measurements are comparable to a much lighter woman. I do wish I weighed less, but I have some health issues that make losing weight a nightmare. I've been on a strict diet and exercise regimen, but lost only 10lbs in a year.

I'm sorry, but HOW can this be possible? Where do you buy your clothes? I'm an inch taller than you, weigh 60 pounds less than you, and I wear a 14.

See, this is how differently we all carry weight. I'm at this weight now (up from 98 3 years ago) and feel obese. I know I'm not obese, but I'm far from skinny. At 112, I'd still be a bit chunky. Ideal for my height is 103 or 105.

Forgot to add that I'm also 5'2"

Sizes mean NOTHING. I am 5'9, 125lb, and wear anything from a 0 to a 6, depending on the brand.

I'm old(er). I turned 50 a few weeks ago. I am 5'4 and 115 pounds. Pretty much the same weight I was when I was 20. I don't watch what I eat. I am not an exercise nut, but I do find a way to do something every day.

By "output," do you mean exercise? Exercise does in fact burn calories. Of course, if you're eating more than you're burning, you're going to gain weight. You can't run a mile and eat a bucket of chicken wings.
