Snow day Monday?

Genuinely that’s not how this storm is going to work. It is so iffy they can’t even properly forecast what it’ll do. Plus the accumulating snow is only going to fall overnight. You’ll know in the morning once they see what’s accumulated and can make a good decision based on that.

And yet I’m sure Loudoun and the surrounding jurisdictions will make the call earlier than Fairfax. Loudoun typically can make the call the night before.

Oh look at that. It’s 3:30pm, and Loudoun has only canceled activities for Sunday. FCPS for the win!

Except it might not be the final decision.

First time all winter. Way to go FCPS!

They put that out early to pacify you. It’s not final. That’s why the others are waiting.

They made the best possible announcement early given the changing forecast. The delay gives everyone a heads up and time to get to school safely even if the forecast pans out. With the winds tomorrow morning, it will feel like it’s in the teens. And the “Possible change in the morning” gives space to change the delay into a full closure if we really do get 5-6 inches.

Giant flakes coming down in Ashburn. Not sticking to the pavement but the grass is turning white again. Here we go...

It’s too difficult to make a “final” decision right now. Would you rather they said nothing until 10pm tonight? Or said nothing until 5am?

What am I missing? I've counted 4 so far. 1/26, 1/27, 1/28 and 2/2. Likewise this would be the 5th, right?

PP here. No, I'm fine with the call. I was just responding to the poster who celebrated FCPS making their call first.

Capital Weather Gang has a strong possibility of closure (80% chance) based on their SchoolCast.

Grass is turning white. Roads would get cold enough for snow to stick. I think closure will be called by 9pm…
