Sorry, can someone explain Sydney Sweeney to me?

She looked ridiculous, like all MAGA women.

I think she particularly annoys the DCUM demographic because she is Gen Z-coded and Red Scare-coded and both of those things are repellent to liberal white women.

I don't want to dismiss her and I know very little about her "coding". I wish I knew that she was a good actress. Like I read something convincing in major media about how great she was in role X. Before I learned about the fact that she has amazing 00s.

Her haircut is very cute and I think the dress would look great if it wasn't see-through. Although that was completely her point. I think a really beautiful dress "suggests" vs. "shows". Like gift wrap. Opacity adds value. She has a sort of Marilyn Monroe thing going on but it's not done as tastefully.

Kind of like the Happy Birthday Mr. President Dress

She looks stunning in this dress and in the photos, but it's a naked dress and feels wrong and disrespectful to the occasion and the other women.

In a way, sure. But the event was “The Power of Women” and her chest is her specific power. This was also about getting a lot of attention for her, and in that way it also worked very well.

I absolutely loved the dress, just stunning. It was Christian Cowan and looked better on her than on the runway. Not sure why everyone is so prudish about seeing the outline of boobs all of a sudden, through an otherwise floor length extremely elegant gown no less. The ladies at the event did not seem to mind, and it brought a lot of publicity to it.

It was more than the outline of her boobs; her boobs and nipples are clearly visible.

It put the focus on her and her boobs versus the ladies and the event.

Not really. None of us would have seen any pics of that event had it not been for her dress. Now I know Sharon Stone was there, Jamie Lee Curtis, Wanda Sykes...So it very much did bring attention to the event. All the ladies looked great in their own way, and that was hers. She has not invented see through dresses or wearing them btw, look up the topic and you'll see ladies wearing them for years and years. She just so happens to have larger breasts than most and have looked exceptionally great.

+1. If she’s going to make her body the best-known thing about her, she should cash in now while the getting is good. It won’t always be like this.

Any young actress or singer can having ‘amazing boobs’ with a little surgery. I don’t see what’s so great about this chick in particular.

She’s all natural. Real boobs that look that great are rare, and you can always spot fakes no matter how good the surgery.

I am a woman. I have never heard of this woman without hearing about her boobs.

I am sorry, in this day and age, for a woman to mainly be famous because of her boobs.

She's not the first or last woman to use sex appeal on/off screen (nothing wrong with that), but she's not especially focused on that when it comes to her career as a whole. She's playing a boxer in her latest movie and gained a bunch of weight for that part.

PP. To me, sex appeal should consist of more than just a "rack". The media message though is just boobs, boobs, boobs.

I don't in anyway blame the media for bobbs, boobs, boobs. Maybe blame the people that flaunt their sexuality by shoving their boobs in our faces.

Why can't they flaunt it?
Flaunt it by all means. But don't complain later on that people don't take you seriously or that you only got the "dumb blond with big boob roles".

She was not pretty either, so I don't even know why she was casted for White Lotus, which is an amazing series (despite Sydney being in the first season).

Hard disagree. The whole point of the character was that she was awful and mean but that there was still a clueless, immature, yet fundamentally non-evil little girl beneath all that and I thought she nailed it. I also thought she was hysterical, the humor was just very dry.

She did a great job and she is beautiful. This dress looks great on her and more people should be comfortable with breasts versus making sure they are draped and flattened. It almost seems a bit more modest than cleavage but I don't think she is very intelligent about a lot of things which is why she plays roles close to her real self very well.

She doesn't need to show her nipples to do that. That's just tacky.

The dress is really pretty - flowy and the fabric is gorgeous. Also you can see in other photos that it is not as sheer as in the photos being circulated. It looks like it appears more sheer in the very bright light of the pap walk.

She's not complaining and that's not reality though. Just look at her career and roles she's had and she has coming up.
