These guys are so dumb. They're already canceling DRP and rehiring from Musk's dumb hatchet job. So dumb, it's pitiful.

37,000,000,000,000 in debt. Drastic measures are required. Democrats continue to advocate for the status quo. Way to go team.

So why did the GOP pass the tax cut for billionaires? MAGAs want to think everyone is as dumb as them.

Um, have you seen how Trump has *added* spending this year, despite sll his false claims about cutting?

So you agree we should raise taxes.

It's time for Republicans to decide...is it worth shutting down the government just so they can maintain that silly Senate tradition known as the filibuster?

Restricting it to mandatory appropriations and law enforcement means that everyone is RIF'd (GSA, Interior, HHS etc.) And once things open up, they'll have to find all those employees and rehire them? How will they RIF people if HR is furloughed. These guys aren't the sharpest pencils in the box.

Be that as it may, I think this ends the shutdown threat.

Remember allll those people who said things like, "Trump can't just close agencies." "They can't just fire people." Tell that to all the people that are now out of jobs.

There's no way Schumer and Jeffries are going to risk this. The base can be frustrated and scream, but the practical reality is that the Dems don't have a lot of plays here.

Agreed. They never did have a play. Supporting Obamacare premium hikes is a good idea, but in this case the best play is to let the Rs own the mess. Have Fetterman and 6 other senators who are not up for reelection vote for the CR and if the premiums go up, point to OBBBA. That pain is not going away and several vulnerable Rs know it.

1. republicans didn’t even want to vote for their own bill in the Senate. They might as well end the filibuster. Why have the filibuster when it doesn’t matter because. There’s no debate anyway. Trump will do whatever he wants. Who cares about a filibuster when you’ve already lost democracy.

2. Democrats don’t need to vote for the CR. They just need to vote for cloture. If we are looking at a three month shut down or a complete firing, maybe just vote for clôture and have the Republicans carry the weight of all their decisions.

This is honestly the craziest post on this thread. “I voted to explode the deficit with tax cuts now I must take the drastic measure of firing everyone!”

All that will end up happening if they do this they will end up wasting more money rehiring a ton of people.

Ha! If you cared about he debt why are you applauding him while he increases it? Why are you cheering as he makes the billionaires richer, the rest of us poorer, AND increases the debt?

Everyone knows that if they vote for cloture that’s the same as voting for the CR.

And if six Dems vote for this mess, the Repugs get to say it was bipartisan. It’s not our fault. No, make them come to the table and negotiate like they are supposed to do. Do not capitulate.

Really? Really? You really want to go there while giving your billionaires tax cuts. Some of them never pay a penny in taxes, aka Bezos. They borrow against their shares and don’t take a salary or sell their stocks. Then they setup offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes on what they do have.

In past shutdowns, most of the IRS was non-essential. So you want to fire them all.

It's not the status quo. I'll grant you that.

This just means they are planning to do it with or without a shutdown. Hope the Dems hold but I doubt it. Dems only fight against progressive and anyone opposed to genocide
