“natural beauty” and picturesque setting are code words for extreme isolation. Sure there is a very small subset of 18 year olds who actually care about the setting in the mountains, but to me it’s always felt like a way to spin the negative related to the isolated and cold feeling of the campus. Hard pass for my kiddo after an overnight visit - athletic cliques, small student body, and isolation in the berkshires

puhlease. Lin is connected with Wes. Sondheim with Williams. I connect Thornton Wilder with Yale even tho he only went two years. And also Edward Gorey with Harvard (he was a rich kid living a rich life even pre fur coat). And then the Oxford guys like CS Lewis.

There aren't many people I associate with their college but a few I do and Sondheim is up there.

Lin Manuel Miranda has actually spoken at Wesleyan commencement. He’s an active alum and has spoken on campus multiple times.

Sondheim never returned the day he graduated from Williams. It’s cool that you have a Wikipedia archive list in your head, but it doesn’t say much.

This is untrue. He absolutely returned to campus, and he also spoke about how his time at Williams influenced him.

NP. I don’t know about a “lot of separation,” but if you do not know there has been some “movement” of applicants in the direction of national unis and more urban locations in the last 20 (and especially, the last 10) years, I suspect you may have been living under a bridge.
