Are there "credible" sources that write about the marriages of actors?

Women who are quietly at home cleaning the kitchen and raising their children without complaint don’t have too much to fear from it; it’s mostly when we gain power someone else thinks a man should have or otherwise step out of our perceived roles that the hate descends. Sexism is an ideology that justifies the patriarchy. Misogyny is effectively the punishing arm of the patriarchy. See Kate Manne’s “Down Girl: The Logic of Misogyny.” Fwiw, in case that helps anyone else.

Yes. And the thing about misogyny is that men and women who will claim not to be sexist will engage in misogyny when faced with a woman they deem to exceeded her role or trying to exceed her role. So an avowed feminist will FREAK out when a woman in their office asserts herself, but it will be couched as dislike for this specific woman or these specific behaviors and they'll never own up to the misogyny. "It's not that I don't respect any women leaders, it's just that THIS woman doesn't deserve this specific leadership role."

And that's how it works with Amal. Of course there are women who work in international human rights who deserve praise and appreciation, but not THIS woman. THIS woman is a fashion plate, she's not serious, she's married to a Hollywood actor, she is posing as a human rights lawyer and her work isn't *real*. There's some idealized version of a female human rights lawyer out there but she wears dowdy suits and never married or had kids and she's certainly not glamorous, she has suffered for her achievements, as she should.

So this particular woman in office that you've imagined is in power, deserves power, but can't handle being criticized like anyone else in power? Has to blame any critique on misogyny? Crying about people being mean doesn't show equality, it plays into every stereotype.

Let’s say you’re right. Why hasn’t one male companion or fling come forward in 60 years?

Because closeted hollywood types make their flings sign NDAs. Just like how the closeted politicians make their flings sign NDAs. They also lubricate the signing of the NDAs with some cash as well.

OMG I swear ppl honestly think half of hollywood is gay and has beards.
Look at Jonathan Bailey? Successful career, completely open about it.

The USA spent millions of dollars on investigating and prosecuting war crimes in Sudan, Iraq, Ukraine - only to turn around and support the genocide in Gaza and now support Russia. The international legal system is DOA. Amal is probably trying fruitlessly to find a way to resurrect it.

She never had a career unless you’re gullible enough to believe that PR planted exaggerated career nonsense. More or less an idle trust funder.

OMG people. I don't know her, but I've heard her speak. She is serious. She had a serious legal career b/f George. Why the vitriol?

She’s pro Palestinian so some people don’t like that or see her as a threat even though her religion (Druze) lives and fights more in Israel than for any other ME country.

Jonathan Bailey will never achieve the type of stardom Clooney did, precisely because he is gay. Hollywood will only let gays go so far. That’s why so many of them stay in the closet.

Agree. It’s a complicated combination of niche, risk, and again, niche.
He might garner a bigger reward in a true, honest gay or bi niche. Than he could going for A++ stardom.

It's really not a secret how a man "makes it" in the music and film biz. You're either rich and connected and/or you carry on with gay agents, gay producers, gay directors, and gay executives to get roles and if you're lucky, they'll make you their muse. Did you not have a drama group at your high school or college? All of the theater boys were bi/gay.

Her being a single hot shot international lawyer with hot model looks and no previous baggage was probably why he picked her in first place.

So she literally had zero long-term boyfriends before George showed up in her late 30s? That's a far bigger red flag than ex-husband baggage.

Joking, joking.

I'm very impressed they've managed to make it work so far, with kids no less. He took a long time to get married, and my impression is that he's not someone who needs a decorative female at his elbow all the time. It doesn't mean he doesn't love his wife and children, of course.

And as the article explains, his wife is working on high-profile cases at some personal risk (terrorism), and it makes travel and security issues even more fraught than usual, especially with children.

I hope they manage to make it work. They seem to be two intelligent, grounded people.

Knowing his wife's advocacy and family connections, terrorists will not be targeting her. She's on their side.
