DD’s from one of VDA’s partner clubs and made VDA at U13. Her team has VSA, PWSI, and out of network teammates from all over Virginia. VDA appears to take the best players available regardless of club affiliation. I liked this but many parents did not when the team was put together. Parents were trying to work politics in the tryout process and it did not work out for them.

DD loves the club and coaches. You should email the staff instead of coming to DCUM where posters will anonymously bash whatever club, league, or coach is being discussed.

Thank you. Where do they practice?

I would say every club operates the same basic way. They will pick the best girls that tryout for their team. Being on a team that is part of an alliance, partnership, agreement (whatever you want to call it) doesn't promise you a spot on the team but it does give exposure prior to any outside girls showing up. At the end of the day, they are going to try and take the best players that show up to the tryouts/ID sessions. Of course there is "politics" (like with anything else in life), coach preferences, etc... Not every kid that doesn't make "the team" is because of politics, sometimes the kid just isn't good enough yet, but parents rarely ever can admit that part, it always has to be some other reason.

Haymarket and Woodbridge. The split and nights vary by team. We are 2 nights at each location per week.

I agree with most of what you posted, but I think we all know certain clubs in northern Virginia have politics more than others.

DD is 2013 and currently U12. When reaching out to a new club about next year’s ECNL team (and hopefully joining some training sessions before ID sessions begin), should I contact the current U13 / 2012 coach or someone else?

Tough to know exactly. But yes, if you want to see what it will be like, you could try to have your 2013 kid try to practice w the 2012 ECNL team. You would have to be clear in what you’re asking. I’d start with the Club TD first. If that person says yes, you can attend a session. But maybe even watching a session could give you some insight. -Good luck!

Probably better to go directly to the Director of Coaching/Technical Director/Zone Director. Decent chance that current coach won't be with that age group next year.

ECNL and GA ID sessions are right around the corner. Anyone hearing anything about movement within the 2013G teams or coaching assignments for next year’s U13 teams?

I think coaching staff assignment will be revealed in February first week.

Curious if any of these clubs do something extra? They all practice 4x week and have a game on weekend? Or any of them do more? Do they keep training during winter and summer? Trying to understand the difference between these DMV ECNL clubs and what I get for what I would pay.

You should reach out to clubs directly. You will not get truthful and full feedback on this forum. You will only hear about how every coach is terrible.

Yes, all the ECNL teams do extra stuff. But that can largely be accounted for by the parents/ team manager for signing up for the extras and paying for the extras. It would be hard to get an apples to apples comparison. Most do summer training and winter training.

Tell me which ones I should prioritize for try outs for u13 I can't make to all of them. They are far from my house (30min+), distance is not a factor.

This is a troll post. An anonymous poster, taking advice from other anonymous posters.
