All the peeps that be hating on college swag are probably ones where their kids are going to T100s and are ashamed compared to friends/family who are going to T20s. Very sad. |
f--k no. I'm not spending $ until I know that's where they want to go. why would I pay to advertise a school my kid turns down or doesn't get into? it's just weird to wear merch from a college you don't live near or you or your fam have any affiliation to.

If my kid like any school he toured, he bought either a sweatshirt or t shirt.
He didn't ED anywhere. It so happened for his first choice he already had swag. But for other schools which were 2nd and 3rd choices he bought it. He ended up giving it to friends who ultimately enrolled in those schools. Luckily he got into his first choice. |
+1 So DC. |
Ummm, NO! |
We bought a tee and put it away. If DC gets in, great. If not, we'll put it in the donation bag. |
My senior and all their friends wear clothing from random college bookstores they visited on tours. This is a DC private. Any athletic practice this year and last has been a spectacle of college tees--the college tees join the random college of tees from 5K races and give-aways. It's not that deep! |
Please don’t unless it’s a safety. Both DCs didn’t get into ED school initially. |
Same at our Arl public school. |
Now turn around 3 times, and throw salt over your shoulder. |
I got my son a T from my all girls school alma mater. |
My Sr has numerous sweatshirts from various colleges. He obviously has applications in, and is still wearing them. He has some from schools he isn’t planning to apply to also. We have family that work at a couple colleges, so the collection of college branded hoodies began very early here. |
DS bought a hoodie after completing a competitive, non-pay-to-play program. He does want to attend the school in question but admissions are competitive and it’s expensive. He did a lot of hard work in the program so I was fine buying the hoodie.
We toured schools and one is a safety that he really liked so I bought a tee for the department he’s interested in. He’ll still wear both to kick around in no matter where things land. It was two items. Shrug. |
You are the sad one |
That would be very weird. I went to a very competitive prep school and we only started wearing swag once we committed to a school. |
