Metropolitan DC Local Politics
You’re absolutely right. Which is why I very closely read the court documents. The witness statement is unclear whether he was going to punch or actually punched. Combined with the lack of findings on the body consistent with a punch and I declined to make any conclusions that fit a narrative I wanted but rather would wait for more evidence. Obviously also what you would also do while serving on a jury! |

The DC ME’s office is extremely dysfunctional, and has gone through years long stints without accreditation, are you unfamiliar with its history?
Much like the 911 call center whose incompetence has resulted in quite a few deaths. In this case, a violent child killer is now released due to their incompetence. I do expect him to be arrested and convicted eventually, hopefully without harming the girls in the meantime. The USAO did not object, they are not good re: dv in particular and are weak on crime overall. Had they prosecuted the felony dv case, the one another judge ordered him held for and for which a grand jury found probable cause, the boy would’ve alive. How are the kids at Murch doing? Cannot fathom explaining something like this to a kindergarter. |
What does that have to do with convicted felons being out in the streets of DC with guns? Why should that be welcome? |
The father told the witness he punched him and f’d up bc child was not breathing. The document is on court website. He told 911 the child “fell.” There is no statement about he was “going to” punch. A punch to the chest can be fatal. There may have been a cumulative effect from punches over time. Others in the building had objected to his punching the boy with full force. The felony dv incident was over the kids, perhaps the ex girlfriend also objected to his treatment of them. Those details are in a link above. Others in the building have protection orders against DeAndre. A competent ME’s office may well have reached a different finding. Are you the poster who speculated the child killed himself by running into a wall? |
| There are cases of a single punch to the head or heart resulting in death. |
More people need to be welcome to kill children? |
Bingo! This! |
This will never stop happening. |
I suppose you think they should only be in the other wards? |
No, I am against child killers of all types in any Ward. All child killers should be in jail IMO. |

I blame Frumin and all those housing-firs fools who think dumping people in NW apartment buildings will solve everything. Every day I see multiple police cars by these buildings. Social workers? Home visits by child services? Clearly
not enough to stop these entirely preventible tragedies. These DC politicians should hang their heads in shame. |
Parent of a kindergartener at Murch. This has been so upsetting and difficult. We saw Deandre at morning drop offs. Never with a parent. His sisters walked him to school. I never noticed any evidence of him being abused or any of the kids looking like they were suffering from their living situation. There are many families still living in that same building and staff from the school lives there, too. My family has been displaced from buildings that have gotten unsafe - we used to live in Sedgwick Gardens from 2010 to 2018 when it got REALLY bad. Then moved to the Brandywine - same shit. Now we live in another smaller building on Conn Ave that has some voucher recipients but not many. We do not make enough money to afford a condo or house in NW DC (GS 9s) but live here because we felt it was the safest place to raise kids. Now I'm not so sure. |
He’s very uncomfortable talking about crime and the voucher program because it challenges many of his priorities and assumptions. This position is clearly a career topper position for him and I’d be surprised if he runs again. He’s clearly it up for the job. Ward 3 has two more years, if we can make it. |
2 dead children can’t make. This has to stop now. |
What kind of problems did you have at the Brandywine? I've looked there but they never had anything available when I was ready to move. |
