Trayon White Arrested by FBI

Not without money. With “our money”, the taxpayer $$$

Please someone rid us of the Council

So we’re not allowed to talk about the very close relationship that the city leadership seems to have with the LAB School? Not what went down with Jelleff? Interesting.

Why has the discussion of the Council’s proposed bill to have the taxpayer forgive $250k in taxes and then give tax free status to a commercial real estate broker and property manager been deleted? Stinks to high heaven.

This is why it's so silly that people focus on a one-day trip to the Masters by the Mayor -- that actually is the sort of things that mayors should do for business development purposes, and a day trip was a really reasonable way to do it. Yet it got so much attention in the local media.

Meanwhile, all these giveaways to specific people go completely ignored. It's almost as though there's misdirection to things like the Masters trip to divert people's attention.

OK. Let’s do that.

Wow who knew that the violence interrupter program was so sleazy? (snicker).

Apparently Kojo seemed a bit disappointed on the radio today, lamenting that it's not like he just needed some money one time?! We need to go back to the first principle and clean up this town.

Can someone say in a nutshell what was purported to have happened?

We are actually moving from the city due to how it's been run into the ground the last few years. But it's all been so elaborately virtue-wrapped. I'd like to know clearly what is alleged to have happened in this incidence (no doubt, just the tip of the iceberg in our governance).

Welp, the cat is out the bag now. Life Deeds Inc. is the contractor who apparently met with White. The way some of Trayon constituents are taking up for him, I hope Kamara has potection.

DC spends millions on violence interrupter programs that have zero oversight and are of dubious efficacy (the city publishes few statistics to show if they're actually reducing crime, and academic studies have shown that they don't).

In that hands-off environment, corruption flourishes. One person who operates one of these VI programs pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges. In exchange for a reduced sentence, he told the FBI that he was bribing Council member Trayon White and could get it all on tape. Which he did. White took thousands of dollars in bribes and paid vacations in exchange for making sure the informant got city contracts. The feds arrested him and he faces a lengthy prison term.

Also White offered the briber that they move into the “mental health” space next on top of violence interruptor type stuff

This is Marion Barry 2.0. So sad. Everyone in Ward 8 think he was set up. That b**** set me up!

They will take him back and allow him to continue to be corrupt. Pathetic !

Sounds like Mr. White was able to claw back some of that misspent money. He should be celebrated for his clever solution to a clearly difficult problem.
