anyone know about the "Virginia Valor Fathers Day Fiesta" or the "FPYC Fathers Day Tournament"

What age group and gender ? Someone said CYA U12 boys were doing the FPYC tournament, so I am curious what age and group is your DC. Wonder why CYA has some going to Valor and others going to FPYC.

Someone said that the CYA all star coaches are a lot of the same people every year. Its possible some of them coached during this s-show last year and refused to coach in it again, so their teams get to go back to the good tournament.

So the tournament will just be....Loudon All Star teams crushing terrible SYA rec teams that can't even win rec games and who are there as tournament filler to make it look like there are more teams? And they are charging rec kids money for this? That's just pathetic. Not fun for anyone.

Since those are the only teams confirmed as participating, that sounds sadly accurate. Not sure whether to feel sorrier for the poor rec teams or the LS teams. The tournament last year had a lot of scores like 14-0.

I feel sorry for any child or family that has to participate in the sham. Can you imagine being excited that your DC got selected for all stars to only have to be subjected to this miserable experience.

I'm curious, what was miserable for you? We are going again this year. We had a good experience last year. We were at their park (I forget the name- it was all grass fields?) and it was well organized and the games were on time all weekend. The people at the tent were nice and helpful and the staff was on top of things like collecting game cards and even cleaning up trash left on the sidelines as the games went on. Standings were updated quickly. My husband coached two teams so we basically camped out there all weekend

Which rec league does your kids and husband belong to. Everyone I know said it was awful. We’re with Herndon U11B.

You are literally the first post I have seen that said the Valor tournament was a good experience. You mentioned that your husband coached 2 separate teams… I guess there are benefits to being an insider in selecting the team and coaching it.

This reads like something someone who organized the tournament would make up. All the emphasis on how great the people running it were lol. I'm not saying its fake, it just sounds fake. What club were you from and what ages were your kids' teams? We are HYS and the most complaints were from the u10-u12s. Our u13s and up played FPYC.

someone linked the schedule from last year, it looked particularly pathetic in the older age groups. maybe the youngest players/families don't know enough to know when something sucks.

what org were you from and what ages did your DH coach?

For instance on the boys side, there were ten teams TOTAL for ages U13-U19. girls side had FOUR teams total for ages U13-U19.

FPYC tournament would have @100 teams for boys u13-u19.

4 teams for the girls u13-19!?!?!? That's abysmal! That's literally more age group divisions than teams.

Can anyone confirm that Herndon is going back to FPYC this year for all ages? Our coach said no one told him.

Also can anyone confirm that Puerto Rico is going back to the Sombrero Valor Tournament?
