Does anyone else hate Bethesda?

Okay, so if you’re looking to move to MoCo for the schools and had considered Bethesda, where would you want to live and where would you focus your house search?

The food is so terrible, and the portions are too small = Bethesda

Whatever, haters. Bethesda has a lot to offer relative to other suburbs, but it's regally expensive.

Yah right on, those grapes were most likely sour anyway

I'd continue searching in Bethesda. People love to hate on it, but it's actually great.

You won't find noticeably better public schools and your neighbors will be people who were willing to pay a premium to send their kids to Bethesda schools (or they go private).

I'd also look in the good part of Kensington and Chevy Chase.

I had to check to make sure this wasn't an old comment of mine. I'll go to get bagels and there's one camp my daughter likes there, but otherwise not my cup of tea at all. I'm much happier in Silver Spring.

Where is the camp? Like next to a stream and woods?

If you are a Bethesda hater, please stay away. This should make parking, and getting in at my favorite restaurants and shops much easier!

Our family moved here (from another part of the US) hoping for a nice neighborhood with interesting, diverse (race, ethnicity, careers, interests) people. This place is anything but that, and it seems like everyone got memo before they moved in: Vineyard Vines wardrobe, check. Range Rover, check. Yellow goldendoodle, check.

You must be in 20816. Come over to a different neighborhood - downtown has all that, Woodmont Triangle, etc.

I live in 20816 (near Westbrook ES) and neither me nor my friends wear Vineyard Vines or drive Range Rovers.

My neighborhood friends are very down to earth, nice people who show up for each other when needed. I see some of these higher maintenance people you refer to around, but they are everywhere in the DMV, not just Bethesda. They also live in NoVa, DC and other areas.

Seriously though, why laugh?

If PP cares about school rankings then they will care to make a distinction between the part of Kensington with a 10 ranked elementary school vs the part with a 3 ranked elementary school. They literally said they were moving for school quality.

Only complete morons rely on Great schools..if anything elementary is when the "bad" (snort) part of Kensington really shines.

No one. Just totally
Offended by the poor yet wannabe snobs in Bethesda. Some of the worst people around and yet they have no reason for it. Thanks goodness they can’t afford to live where I do.

They are the worst. They think they're hot shit because they live in Bethesda and have a 7000 Sq ft house in their 10000 Sq foot lot

The homes that are larger and in prefect locations with good lots walking distance to downtown and train are now like 2.5 to 4 million.

It's amazing how the free market works. No one wants to live in Bethesda, yet all the housing is expensive because... everyone wants to live in Bethesda?

This thread is about HATING Bethesda! So the ridiculous people saying "stay away then" or "go back to arlington" or "hOw it sO crOwdEd if Every1 H8?" should shut it let the people who hate the place vent. And more delicious descriptions please. I moved away long ago.

It's great that it's walkable and you can leave your house and walk all over Bethesda row with your golden and you run into people you know... but could you get the eff off the middle off the sidewalk when you do all that? kthx

Heck, post your house here and you’ll probably find a buyer.

+1. Why not just sell your house and move on? May I ask what is the point of coming on DCUM to complain? There are plenty of people who like Bethesda, but that does not matter for your individual situation because you have found that you do not like it.
