Does anyone else hate Bethesda?

I like Bethesda. It's got a nice downtown area, is full of young families, and is the nicest suburb in this area. I think lots of this thread is jealously, and I say that as someone who can't afford to live in Bethesda myself.

I only go there for bagels. Hate it. Hate the people, the weird lay out of the streets and the ugly buildings.

Can't blame you. My experience growing up in Bethesda is bunch of snobby white folk and entitled racist Karens. If it weren't for the schools, we would have moved long ago

who hurt you

I like the cosmopolitan side of Bethesda. It’s a relief from the “you have a foreign accent, where you from” or “what language are you speaking to your child?” we encountered in VA and parts of NC.
The only thing I dislike about Bethesda is the heavy traffic and smell of pot in certain parts of the city. I find it disgusting.

Notice how no one will ever provide a concrete, specific example to support their allegation of racism. We're just supposed to take them at their word.

Anonymous wrote:My house hunt in Bethesda was short lived. The houses walking distance to Metro or downtown area are either tiny, run down and on loud blocks with traffic. The homes that are larger and in prefect locations with good lots walking distance to downtown and train are now like 2.5 to 4 million.

It's amazing how the free market works. No one wants to live in Bethesda, yet all the housing is expensive because... everyone wants to live in Bethesda?

Eh, some people don't mind being able to see their neighbor poop from their window.

Bethesda is fine but no longer lives up to its reputation. Other places in the DC area for nicer; Bethesda got more cookie-cutter, and not in a good way.

Alexandria City is the nicest place in the area outside the district, other than the public high school (though Montgomery public schools are overhyped so the gap between them is less big than it used to be).

Our family moved here (from another part of the US) hoping for a nice neighborhood with interesting, diverse (race, ethnicity, careers, interests) people. This place is anything but that, and it seems like everyone got memo before they moved in: Vineyard Vines wardrobe, check. Range Rover, check. Yellow goldendoodle, check.

You must be in 20816. Come over to a different neighborhood - downtown has all that, Woodmont Triangle, etc.

Nobody ever goes there. It's so crowded.

Not really. It's still mostly the same

I had to check to make sure this wasn't an old comment of mine. I'll go to get bagels and there's one camp my daughter likes there, but otherwise not my cup of tea at all. I'm much happier in Silver Spring.

This. Houses aren’t exactly sitting on the market.
