Drs firing patients

I agree with everything the other doc on here is saying about insurance companies. People are paying a ton for insurance. Insurance companies are making a ton. We have been getting reimbursed something like 90 dollars per level 3 sick visit since 2008. No increase. Think of how much inflation we have had since 2008.

People just dont understand it. In dentistry we are getting $46 from delta dental for cleaning teeth, 15 years ago the hygienist was making $35-40/hour for a $46 cleaning appt. Now they are at $70/hour and its $46 for a cleaning!!!! LOL Has anyone ate our recently?? Something that you poop out in 24 hours is more expensive than a dental cleaning that should last 6 months????? Its broken, its the insurance companies and the politicians like obama (aka obama care) who made you feel all warm inside but forgot to mention that it will turn into a shit show. You're welcome! Blame your doctor! No wonder the thread's title is "Dr firing patients"

So the people who aren't sick/injured are expected to fix this for you? You have no unionized force of super-educated, invaluable doctors/clinicians? You don't strike? You don't push back? You just... fire people who come to you for care and don't provide you free therapy and obey your every piece of advice (even though you admit you had 8 minutes to cook that little nugget up, and sometimes it's trash)?

This is why people don't trust doctors. You have power, and a victim complex. It's dangerous.

You blame the insurance, but you still take the insurance.

Then you take your frustration out on the people who pay you to provide a professional service, even though they're not required to know the back-end business of your job, because that's YOUR JOB.

Doctors panic when they know they did something that can be questioned. They also do not like being involved in complicated situations that might involve court subpoenas, such as when pediatricians treat a child whose parents are going through a litigated divorce. This may be happening more simply because of the consolidation of practices, more involvement of consultants/lawyers, etc.o

Everything doctors do can be questioned. We know that. And we answer questions from the first to the last appointment. Questions aren't the problem when they are reasonable and not inappropriately presented (true on both sides, of course).

As for court subpoenas in pediatric cases, everything is already in the medical records. All someone can do is reference the record. Courtyard rarely subpoenas for that, but if they do, they do, and there is often compensation. Either way, it's already all in the record. It's not stressful. That's not it, either.

Lol sure Jan. Let’s have all doctors stop taking insurance and see how happy you are. This is already the case in psychiatry and it’s almost impossible to find or afford a good psychiatrist.

This area is special imo. I have practiced all over the country including nyc, boston and the Midwest and the patients in this area are the most suspicious, antagonistic, litigious, entitled, know-better, and at times nastiest I have ever met. I don’t know whether it’s the high number of lawyers or what but it’s really noticeable.

Funny you said that. Insurance companies got your politicians to agree that doctors can not band together and strike against the insurance company so we have no collective power at all, they made it illegal. It’s an antitrust law. Look it up jackass

This area is populated by people that actually did all their homework in high school and never developed any interests outside of that. That’s your answer. I did not any of my homework.

But I am a patent lawyer. I don’t have crazy questioning practices when working with my health care providers. I also don’t bring a pile of pubmed citations. I do have a lot of generic and branded pharmaceutical litigation experience, so I already know the limits of what medicine can do anyways.

Just a reminder that the American Medical Association spent 19.2 Million Dollars on lobbying in 2022. This number doesn’t include all the specialty groups that also contribute deep pockets to politicians.

AMA is the 7th highest spending lobbying group in the country, passed only by Facebook, Blue Cross, American Hospital Association, Pharmaceutical Research, US chamber of commerce and real estate agents.

If physicians wanted to change the system, they could. The reality is most physicians probably aren’t involved in their professional organizations and take no actual efforts to fix a broken system, because overall it is working the way it was designed in their favor.

What a weird dismissive take on someone who has a PhD from Harvard school of Public Health and will graduate as an MD from Harvard. Your misogyny is showing.

Funny that in the same thread, people complaining about doctors firing patients with 30 days written notice also say that doctors should just strike.
