What does this have to with Claudine Gay’s plagiarism?

Who cares what this guy does? He’s a sleazy journalist that exposed perhaps the biggest scandal in academia in several years. I admire the desire of some folks to obscure the crime by smearing the rat, but it doesn’t change the fact the Harvard Corporation hired a plagiarist to be their President after the shortest search in history.

It also appears that these people are trying to defend Harvard president by somehow pointing out that Harvard is simply selling easy advanced degrees and selling easy prestige… if so, wouldn’t Dr. Gay have been a part of that, too?

The few people I’ve met who went to Harvard Extension School are creepy and weird and of average intelligence. They are not and never will be in real Ivy League social circles. They name drop their fake Ivy degree to rubes who don’t know any better who have literally never come across a real Ivy graduate.

It’s a real degree insofar as it’s accredited, but so are U of Phoenix degrees, so not exactly a high bar. Open enrollment online HES degree confers zero prestige, which is why its low caste graduates often lie and purposely misrepresent their degree.

I think the assumption that Harvard extension school alumni would have less legitimacy to criticize the president than any other schools to be irrational and elitist. And I do have a master’s from the design school.

I found the plagiarism accusations against President Gay unconvincing in the examples I saw. But that’s on the corporation for caving to that pressure or whatever their true reason was. I don’t think dragging extension school students and their alum through the mud fixes any of that. They do not need to apply some kind of caveat to their degree. Nor does your degree get revoked for criticizing the institution as we see in Rep Stefanik. This pointless criticism only serves to strengthen accusations of elitism from critics and deflect from actual injustice that may have occurred.
