I only know what Bavarois is from watching The Great British Baking Off. They have so many varied desserts. In America it's mostly just cakes, pies, and cookies. All very simply prepared.

The GBBO contestants are often making things Brits would normally buy from a bakery. You can get most of those things at a bakery here.
