how common is pregnancy doing Freshman year of college?

No one needs to "be put on birth control" by others, however, women of reasonable emotional health and maturity do not engage in sex until they have arranged for their own birth control.

Umm...yes it is. Even just for live births, not to mention terminations.

Give us a %
and where you're getting your figures

Although sexually active, getting pregnant is not common.

Roughly 40% of babies in the US are born to unwed mothers. That's pretty damned common and not really up for debate!

Here is it by state: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/sosmap/unmarried/unmarried.htm

You seriously think all or even most women who have kids or get abortions are married? That's fantasyland.

Not among college educated women.

Everyone I knew, got an abortion. I think it’s uncommon to keep the baby unless very religious.

Everyone I know uses birth control
I know no one who has had an abortion

Those of you who are saying your child's friends never got pregnant: what makes you think they'd tell you in the first place? My roommate got pregnant sophomore year. I went to buy the pregnancy test because she was scared to go to College Health. I certainly didn't call home and tell my parents about it.

Yeah, no one is telling their parents about this unless the friend is keeping the baby. I had three friends get pregnant through date rape at frat parties, and two pregnant by their boyfriends, in four years of college.

Only one kept the baby and dropped out of college, after her boyfriend tried to pressure her to get an abortion. Boyfriend never came around and tried to kill her and the baby after she was born instead of paying child support. He went to prison.

I did tell my mom about the last one (before the boyfriend tried to kill her), my mom said if I ever got pregnant in college to let her know and she would help me get an abortion without my dad's knowledge, so I could stay in school. Both she and my dad were "pro life."

We're talking Freshman year in college. This is when young adults are most vulnerable to making rash choices, so pregnancies are gonna happen. If they get an abortion, you the parent may not even be aware it happened.

I had a very religious friend get an abortion in college. They just weren't as open about it. There is a lot of sex in college and birth control isn't 100%, but actual births are very rate- I know of 1 while I was in school.

Oh my aren’t you lucky to have everything so figured out!
