how common is pregnancy doing Freshman year of college?

Anonymous
It is uncommon for teens to have the baby if they are pursuing college at the time. But pregnancy rates are down overall for that group, more contraception and I don't think the teens are as active as they were in previous decades.

I knew a few people who had abortions in college. My DH got his girlfriend pregnant while they were in HS and she decided to abort.

why not? don't have sex until you can walk into a drug store and buy what you need. Yes it's embarrassing. You do it anyway. If it's too embarrassing, you're not ready. And if a teen guy thinks they are ready to have sex, they are old enough to walk into a drug store and buy condoms.

I'm talking about girls, often seniors and grad students take advantage of naïve freshmen.

My 2 best friends got pregnant in college. Both terminated. Neither told their family.

Not in college but in grad school, age 23 I got pregnant. Got an abortion with my boyfriend's support; we never told or families. Why would we? We were adults with our own lives.

No one should be naive as a college freshman if the parents have done their job.

Very common in trashy families.

Although sexually active, getting pregnant is not common.

Roughly 40% of babies in the US are born to unwed mothers. That's pretty damned common and not really up for debate!

Here is it by state: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/sosmap/unmarried/unmarried.htm

You seriously think all or even most women who have kids or get abortions are married? That's fantasyland.

Breakdown by race, please. LOL

It's why the fraternities call freshmen "fresh meat." The sheltered girls who want to party, and girls who have been taught a man is the plan, are at greatest risk.

Ancient history.

I remember "passing the hat" several times in the college dorm to contribute to a girl's need to terminate. We always gave enough, and supported her thoroughly in her decision. I accompanied/drove one girl and we are still friends to this day. Mostly freshman and sophomores. I guess by junior year everyone was on birth control!
