Do you ask about guns when you schedule play dates?

When we lived in DC I didn't ask, but we've moved to MD and now I always ask. I also offer when setting up a play date for a kid to come to our house. I'll say something like and so you're aware, we don't own any guns, we have a pet, it is not a nut-free home, etc. just to get the big things out of the way in case there are concerns or issues.

So far it's worked pretty well.
