In lcol areas and small markets they could be making a fraction of the salary for the exact same job just because of their zip code. There are regular cops in California who make 200k plus a year. School librarians on Long Island who are making 150k a year. Move their job to Alabama or Mississippi and see how their salaries are slashed.

But this is.. [checks notes].. DC Urban Moms... I think it's safe to assume the large majority of posters are in the DC Metro area and that is the context of the question.

I think this board is now filled with non-local posters. I'm one of them. This board draws UMC people because it has so much feedback on issues which apply to that socioeconomic class of people. Been coming here off and on for over a decade. Google has brought me here when I search stuff about...fertility treatments, nannies, earning and managing a high income, private school, cosmetic procedures, etc.

The assumption in a thread like this should still be that you are DC metro, and if otherwise, it's incumbent on you to say otherwise.[/quote]

NP. Lol get lost. You don’t make the rules here.

Not in DC, but in similar cost area.

150 + bonus. Senior proposal manager. 42 years old.

I'm pretty confident I'll make director in the next few years and that would bring me closer to 200k+bonus. If I can ride that till retirement, I'm happy!

Lawyer ($210K). 7 years of school after high school and 60 hour work weeks.

I work at a company and do my own consulting on the side. My salary where I work is $173k. I usually make an additional $60k-$100k doing my own consulting work on the side. It really depends on how many jobs/projects I want to take on outside of work.

Your employer is cool with that? It's not a conflict of interest?

At those agencies people can easily make $225K and many are over $250K.

I work double what he does. Life is not fair in that way.

Did you go to grad school for 3 years?

Seriously what is not fair is when people who do 5-7 years of post grad training make less than people with none.
