same here, consultants claim that it will help attract younger genz entry level people. i don't know it seems that its just attracting the troubled ones that don't do work and hide behind their equity conditions when being written up by performance |

"OP, you are under no obligation to share this kind of information - in fact, I think your company is opening themselves up to legal challenges if they force discussion about this kind of thing at work." In fact the company is doing the complete opposite, which is covering their asses when someone does pose a legal challenge to something that is likely going on under the radar that you are unaware of. |
https://ssir.org/articles/entry/the_bias_of_professionalism_standards n a world driven by capitalism, professionalism is based on a monochronic relationship to timeliness and work style. It centers productivity over people, values time commitments, accomplishes tasks in a linear fashion, and often favors individuals who are white and Western. In contrast, polychronic cultures, while still able to get tasks completed, prioritize socialization and familial connections over economic labor. Within black and immigrant communities, there is often a deep ancestral connection to polychronic cultural orientation. |
It sounds like you're working at a place with trashy people. There are plenty of places to work where people do not talk like that, and are not trashy. |
. I'm pretty woke, but now I've heard it all. Expecting punctuality and professionalism is racist? Come on, now. I think we do a disservice to POC by focusing on these complaints. Everyone would be better off just focusing on the skills that they bring to the workplace. I work for an AA VP at my company, and he's a rock star (age 48). He's very capable and competent. Everyone agrees that he deserves to be the boss. |
I still don’t understand the question? I would have taken it literally as “ inclusive” meaning a friend, neighbor, manager who makes everyone always feel welcome no matter the circumstance. Or, we’re you to name someone of color, gender, trait. I’m confused! |
Could it be the same way that literacy tests were racist? |
Your job will require you to adhere to the capitalistic values of productivity and timeliness. That’s just the way it is. |
There's no "right" answer but there are definite wrong answers. It's more about demonstrating that you've given some thought to what being inclusive means and that you can value inclusiveness in your office/team/job. A good example of inclusive behavior would be a team leader who makes sure everyone on the team is heard from rather than listening only to the loudest voices in the room. While not explicitly about gender or race, this example does have a gender and race component in that people who are "onlys" in the room are often less empowered to speak up even when they have something valuable to contribute. From a business perspective, organizations that are inclusive are less likely to make costly mistakes and are less likely to have disengaged or actively disengaged employees. |

If you work for one of these companies you may be in luck, OP
