Then the response would have been there is something wrong with him reacting so coldly to accusation of rape. Saying that he essentially confessed and is thus unqualified to serve. This was the objective all along, to see if they could get Republicans to blink and not nominate a 5th conservative to the Supreme Court, and if they didn't do so, to have a black mark on him that they could use against him in the future, and serve as a threat to future nominees about what will happen to them. |
Maybe the debts were paid by Christine Ford's dad who was embarrassed at the harm she caused to Kavanaugh's family. Her family was nowhere to be seen during these hearings, because they knew their daughter well. |
It was a specific response to the idea that because someone didn't report it at the time, the story must be false. Plus the given accusation is close to rape. |
No, the allegation was not “close to rape” at all. Anyone categorizing it as such makes it clear they are not a serious person. Regardless, you’re welcome to believe whatever you want, as are the rest of us. I think this was a false accusation, specifically designed and encouraged by Democrats to prevent his confirmation to the bench. I’m glad it didn’t work. |
Precisely this. The left loves a good intimidation tactic. |
His behavior during the hearing should’ve disqualified him. Republicans had a majority and could’ve demanded Trump name someone else, similar to Harriet Myers under W. A Republican was going to be confirmed to the court and that person didn’t need to be Kavanaugh. |
Exactly. A conservative was going to be named. He wasn’t a good pick. His behavior was embarrassing. |
+1. They could have found another Gorsuch (not that I'm a Gorsuch fan, but this is how much the bar has been lowered). |
Could well be. |
Sociopaths are very good at keeping calm in situations such as this. They are practiced. Ted Bundy was able to sit on a rape hotline and discuss his own murders with a detective friend he met there. |
+2 I say it again: Kavanaugh exists on the court because he’s the GOP’s middle finger to normal, non-extremist people. |
That plus he sits on the Court because Mitch McConnell ensured that Merrick Garland didn’t. Had Garland been confirmed, Trump would have only had 2 SC picks, at most. Since Gorsuch was the first choice, he would have taken the appointment Kavanaugh was given, and if Republicans felt RBG had to replaced with a woman, Coney Barrett would still have her appointment. Brett would not be on the SC, and we might possibly not have the same Dobbs decision because I’m not sure Roberts would have been willing to be the deciding vote to overturn Roe. Having 5 other justices vote to overturn settled law gave him cover. |
\ This. ANY investigating could have been helpful. But GOP just wanted to Rubber stamp Justice Weepy McBeerlover at warped speed. |
Bull S. Do you think you could cry, scream, and accuse your interviewers of a conspiracy against you in a job interview? And get the job? LOL. No. Putting aside the attempted rape allegations, he is temperamentally unfit to be on the Court. Period. |
All he had to say was that he had some sympathy for Ford, and believed she believes her memories. She was clearly very effected and traumatized by what happened to her and he would never want his own daughters to endure such an event. BUT that he had no memory of having behaved in such a way. He didn’t remember that party and he didn’t remember her. And then pivot to all how he lives his life now.
I think they are both telling the truth. His behavior was … inexplicable. Surely he was giving some guidance by professionals who deal in crisis PR. If he didn’t I question his judgement…. And if his JUDGEMENT is in question… |
