| They should raise the fee even more to $1000. You are intentionally choosing to endanger other cars, bikers and pedestrians when racing around DC's narrow streets in these monster vehicles. They have no redeeming value. |
Landscapers, painters, plumbers, carpenters, etc all have no redeeming value to the residents of this city is an interesting observation. |
So do council members and the mayor. Did we stop giving them Explorers and Suburbans after the Fenty and Gray shenanigans? |
Giant registration and licensing fees |
perhaps you haven’t noticed but only about 12 people actually use the bike lanes in DC. Their tax money isn’t enough to pave a single road |
The majority of monster vehicles registered in DC are driven by UMC soccer moms and men with small egos. And most contractors are from VA or MD anyway so they wouldn't pay. So there really is no good reason for making the drivers of these killer trucks pay their fair share. |
These giant trucks are useless and shouldn't even be allowed in a densely populated area like DC. This isn't the outback. |
Banning delivery vehicles is a sure fire way to make this city more livable. |
Most people don’t lease. It’s generally a terrible financial decision. |
Grand Caravans and Pacificas are over 6000 pounds. |
In any given year, from 1/4 to 1/3 of all new cars are leased. |
| Small business owners now get to write off up to 100% of the cost of vehicles in excess of 6000 GVWR during the year placed in service. |
Many people buying these huge trucks are not making the best financial decisions… |
Then they can pay for their own parking. There's a plumbing business being run near 14 and Quincy NW and the work vans park off the street. They do not take up residential parking when parking at the "office." |
These aren't delivery vehicles. Also, wanna make this city more livable? Get rid of residential parking on major streets like 14th so delivery vehicles have spots to unload. Traffic is FUBAR in the city because DC pols are too cowardly to take way subsidized parking for DC single occupancy vehicle drivers. |
