Sorry, anyone with more on:
Even looking at the parents committee and the audacity of some of the venmo/signal requests would provide better grist for more informative and entertaining discussions. |
I agree with everything you said, but how far does private school cover go? Asking because Whittle is a private school that was theoretically doing whatever it wanted too. At what point parent contracts, consumer protection, pyramid scheme and such kick in? Should there be more oversight? |
| For me this became interesting when I leaned here that it sounds like Bisgaard never fully left given his wife was and is neck deep in with the parents and Whittle. Was there comp? That changes the narrative |
Because it is now clear that he did not entirely move on and distance himself from the school. His wife was getting inside information about the school, making representations to parents about the school's financial condition, and stumping for the school in an effort to keep it going. Are those actions really reflective of the type of judgment that you would want from your head of school and their spouse? |
| Maret is extraordinarily hard to get into. It has applicants from all over the private and public school continuum. They have been oversubscribed for the past 2 years. There are no open spots to squeeze in Whittle kids, especially as Bisgaard was just named a couple of weeks ago and won't start until 2023. There is no connection here except that he worked there. And maybe his wife felt bad for the kids and families still there, or maybe she is paid - who knows. |
| I want to know more about the bay our if the folks on the Advisory Committee, investor parents, administrators etc. |
| Behavior |
| Was this run like a pyramid scheme by the connected parents for the unconnected parents under the guise of helping? |
|
Where is the pyramid scheme? It sounds like the parents on the committee had so much skin ($$$) in the game that they couldn't get out. Not sure of the other parents and all the venmo, but it sounded like nickels and dimes.
So should I feel sorry for the handful of parents on the committee and those wealthy enough to help keep things afloat until now? |
How does one "entirely distance oneself" from a former job? Didn't he take an interim job or two (Baltimore Friends) between Whittle and Maret? And what does the "inside information" on Whittle do for him vis-a-vis Maret? Indeed given the massive legal claims and default judgements, how material are the details of Whittle's cash flow? Folks here have been doing the math without that knowledge for more than a year now. Again Nutty. |
| I am truly dumber for having read the last three pages. |
| I loved the idea of this school even though I knew it was complete fantasy. I think the building still has potential if an established school can take over the building and expand their program to include boarding. |
| At the moment people still feel muzzled by their NDAs and the need to land someplace. But the real story will come out |
You're drawing inferences that are not being made and then calling them "nutty." Another common tactic on this message board. When it comes to a head of school, you can not separate the actions of the head from the actions of the spouse, especially when the spouse's actions relate to a school community. If you think that her actions and conduct befit the spouse of a head of school, then we are just going to have to disagree. But if I were a Maret family, I would not want to have my new leadership be connected in any way with her involvement in the "parent capital committee" and the solicitations and representations that she apparently made to Whittle parents. And I am very surprised that the Maret board would have seen it any differently. |
|
Aside from atmospherics and optics that some have expressed discomfort with. The past several pages have made wild claims about Maret's new head of school and all sorts of misconduct in his taking the position, conflict of interest, fraud, bribery, tortious interference, insider trading, and "varsity blues" conspiracies. All of this with barely a whiff of evidence and a whole hell of a lot more inferences than the above statement.
I am merely pointing out that the grand conspiracy is a bit nutty and pales in comparison to what it looks like Whittle has done with his WSS project. |
