Whittle

Very few people are saying anything much about HOS. They are asking questions and all of the above about the inner circle of parents and advisors. Whittle is a known scumbag and didn’t do this alone, he had many willing helpers, right here. That’s the story I’m really interested in, and yes it involves the Signal messages and money flows, and the boarders, and which adults are responsible. It is not just Whittle.

So, if this guy had taken a HOS position at a different DC private school, would that school automatically be in some type of collusion with Whittle?

This is just too far-fetched of an effort to make some nefariouslink between Maret and wrongdoing at Whittle.

Quick question: Are we certain Whittle School and Studios is actually closing? All the comments refer to it in the past tense, but given the history, who would be surprised to hear that it's popped back up someplace else?

In a way, I guess I wouldn't be surprised. And I wouldn't be surprised if they're actually continuing to say that they'll open again this fall.

On the other hand, I'd be not just surprised but horrified to hear that anybody around here feels confident that CW and WSS would pay them rent, after all this.

Wow. This thread. Maret parents were teed off about this selection. I could not imagine it. He apparently even said something about Whittle and Maret being alike?? There’s also:

Maret board told who to vote for. The HOS and Board chair had already decided.

Now I really smell a rat

There are no open spots to squeeze in Whittle kids, especially as Bisgaard was just named a couple of weeks ago and won't start until 2023. There is no connection here except that he worked there. And maybe his wife felt bad for the kids and families still there, or maybe she is paid - who knows.

Have any whittle kids actually gotten into Maret and reaped these benefits or is this all speculation?

We won’t know yet, will we? This is all quite a boondoggle

The impression I had from the other HOS thread, even down to some of the same condescending language, is damage control by a recruiter company (they even say something like one of the best new ones or whatever, I’ve never heard of them), people close to the search or a few parents who are either embarrassed or true believers, or whittle people

Again, weird choice I’d like to believe our school would not make. Not the key point. The key point is what kind of shenanigans DC-people linked with Whittle got engaged in to get their kids to graduate, get paid etc. also who was getting paid while the staff and boarders had to tighten their belts or get fed with donations?

Finally, what kind of education took place? This is a scandal that is going to be massive and I’m looking forward to reading all about it. Mock away, you know there is a there there

“Many of the school’s critics declined to speak on the record, fearing the effect on their and remaining staff’s career prospects, while families and students expressed concerns about getting into another school.”

“Indeed, a group of parents and other shareholders cobbled together some of the $2 million needed to make payroll until mid-January, according to another letter Chris Whittle sent Dec. 28, adding that two parents and one faculty member had formed a parent capital strategy committee to discuss the school’s needs with investors. Those representatives — Michael O’Neil, Paul Baldassari and Monica Bisgaard — had signed confidentiality agreements to protect “highly sensitive” information, he wrote. Baldassari and Bisgaard did not respond to requests for comment; O’Neil was not available in time for publication.”

Remember back at the beginning, when Whittle was tooling around spouting his line about how EVERYTHING kids see and experience is part of their education and their learning about how to participate in the world community, yadda yadda? And that his 'first truly modern school" would uniquely contribute to that, turning out iindependent-thinking, ncredibly responsible and aware global citizens in a way other schools never do?

Looks like the global citizens he had in mind live in a dystopian autocracy where they fear their children will starve if they speak the truth. That atmosphere will turn kinds into a bunch of brave, empathetic, independent thinkers, all right.

Nice lesson there, Chris (and all those who've enabled him and continue to enable him).

Let's not forget that the Maret new HOS was with Chris Whittle right from the beginning as part of the start up team. The WSS directory has gone, but his wife was special advisor to the head at WSS. Something doesn't smell right.
