Let’s. Absolutely necessary. But how is that not linked to the HOS Maret when his wife was sending them out?! |
|
So lemme get this right...a board full of yentas whose kids did not get into Maret are somehow imputing that there is a Varsity Blues scandal where the just-named HOS' wife took money to get kids into her hubby's new place of employment?
Alternatively, there were lots of applicants and, despite being well-qualified, your kid just didn't get in. |
|
And here’s a variation on the “unhinged” comment. I can tell we struck a nerve. For me it’s about transparency and fairness and just no to the rich folk getting away with anything
So I’d love a full investigation, yes No interest in Maret, beyond the links to Whittle |
Were the Illuminati involved? the Trilateral Commission? I think I saw a black helicopter fly past the school. |
Struck a nerve. That’s obvious. Now I AM interested |
PP. I have no dog in this fight. I just think the Maret thing sounds a bit nutty. |
|
Ok, easy peasy.
Step 1. Maret search committee and the Maret board is public too. Audit to ensure no one has connections to Whittle, related investments, parents’ committee, admin https://www.maret.org/about-us/head-of-school-announcement Hopefully you find all these fine folk decided that the next HoS should come from a school like Whittle in the hope that what, that success can be replicated, or any other more legitimate reason. 2. Maret transfers from Whittle. How many, who, when? Hopefully you find that there are the same or fewer than to the other Big 5, all on merit, and with no greater representation amongst the admitted kids from the various committee parents’ families at Whittle than the % of the general Whittle population these households represent |
Perhaps Maret looked at Bisgaard’s 20+ years of experience including 12 at Kingswood Oxford making it one of the top private schools in Connecticut and want to replicate that success instead of these two years everyone is so hung about. According to the other thread Bisgaard even left after the first year at Whittle so I’m not sure why everyone is so ravenous over this. Just seems like one unadmitted Maret parent stirring up trouble. |
+1 |

Because, you know, it is nutty.
Maret has the same obligation to you that the owner of Comet Ping Pong has to open their books and non-existent basement to Q-Anon. In fact, the parallels are many. |
I actually agree with his credentials being excellent and would add that failure is sometimes a great experience too. Nonetheless, I would be very interested in the answers to the foregoing 2 questions about the links to and admissions from Whittle as well ad the role of the family member there in 2022 (what was known, what was said to some parents and kept from the others) |
| There are many excellent administrators without the massive reputation risk. It’s one thing to leave; it’s another to keep benefiting from it all these years — all the while knowing all there is to know |
| I was trying to think how would a selection with ongoing links to Whittle make me feel as a parent (we are at a similar school). Uneasy is the answer |

Look, Maret is a private school and can do whatever they want.
At the same time, it is no fun to at the mercy of a sometimes unfair, even capricious, system. If I had kids at Maret, or if I had kids who had applied to Maret, I would be a little miffed at kids who get in due to an unusual hook. And for the people who love to speak disparagingly of “the parent whose kid didn’t get in,” be assured that many of those kids who didn’t get in are just as qualified and probably nicer than yours. No need to be snotty. |
