Are they going after Obergefell v. Hodges?

I hope that someday before I die the plot behind the GOP is revealed. Who funds them. What their motivation is. All that. We know, but I wanted leaker letters and emails.

We do know. His name is Charles Koch, and he wants to bring back the Gilded Age. It was a great time to be a robber baron, a terrible time to be anyone else.

Why, are you interested in that plot? Why do you want to be buried with the GOP?

I can understand wanting your dad there no matter what a homophobic creep he is, but no way in hell would I marry into this family. That’s some real self hatred.

It is the only way the Dems think they can hold their majority in the midterms.

But, it will not work. The American people can see through their tactics.

You keep saying that and Rs keep doubling down.

It's not fearmongering. It's a statement of fact. We are now living under the tyranny of an illegitimate activist right wing Supreme Court that has lied to the American people, and which CAN NOT BE TRUSTED. That was solidly PROVEN with the Dobbs decision. NOTHING can be left to precedent.

Furthermore, are you saying Republicans don't use fear?

Cheney wanted us to fear terrorists, namely... Saddam Hussein?

Trump wanted us to fear...everyone and everything, but it all started with Mexicans who are rapists and murderers. Some are good people.

Now the GOP wants us to fear CRT. Antifa. Trans kids playing sports.

Should I keep going?

Not only that but he gave a speech at the wedding!

I don’t understand how this couple would allow that to happen.

I’m just guessing but that that GOP father probably wasn’t the most loving parent, probably far more an authoritarian parent than not. Lots of kids learn to live under that kind of abuse and it takes a long time and a lot of thinking (and sometimes a lot of therapy) to be able to free yourself from wanting your authoritarian parents’ approval and support.

All the more reason to get the legislative branch to pass all the legislation you want instead of either side using the courts to do what might be unpopular with the public at a given time.

Which is EXACTLY what the current Dem-controlled Congress is trying to do. But as soon as they do, the Republican-controlled states will run whinging to the Supreme Court that marriage should be a local decision left to the States. And the Supreme Court will agree with them.
However, when Dem states try to pass reasonable gun control, the Republican gun nuts run to the Supreme Court yelling "Second Amendment" and the Supreme Court agrees with them. (Apparently that phrase "well-regulated" doesn't seem to mean anything any more . . .)
Bottom line is that this Court is SO politicized that they will twist themselves into illogical, precedent-severing knots in order to support whatever the far right wants.

What the Dems should do FIRST is pass Court reform. Terms of 18 years or age 72 whichever comes first. Clarify that when a president sends a nomination the Senate needs to vote it up or down in 45 days and a failure to act will be deemed approval. Create some recusal standards since it is obvious that scoundrels like Clarence Thomas won't self-police themselves.

If only a certain geriatric justice retired the last time there was a democrat in the presidency instead of making it all about her

If only the GOP didn’t keep stealing seats. If your busted down party had any decency at all, they wouldn’t have sat the handmaiden while people were actively voting. But you’re cheating sacks of crap who only “win” by cheating.
