And to bring parents onboard. There was no public outreach to speak of... It was arrogant of the FCPS board to overhaul the admission process so fundamentally with blatant disregard for the community impacted by it. At universities, for example, this type of change in the process would have taken minimally 2 years to implement. And yet, in the fall of 2020, parents of students who were planning to apply to TJ were left in the dark about what was to come.

Imagine a board full of white folks in a HBCU plotting to reduce black students and not engaging with the parents there.

How is TJ similar to an HBCU? I do not follow.

A school with over 70% Asians has decisions made about it's admissions process by a board with 0% Asians with a stated intent to reduce Asians.

DP. You mean a governor's school has decisions made about it's admissions process by a school board with school board members. If Arlington and Loudoun parents want to complain that their school boards were not consulted, that seems valid. But that doesn't seem to be what's happening.

Asian : TJ :: Black : HBCU ??

You either misunderstand the origin/mission of HBCUs or the origin/mission of TJ.

Savvy but disgusting post. Yet another non-falsifiable piece of nonsense intended to provide the jerks who want these kids to fail an out when they end up being a perfectly normal class.

I guess you pretend to care about TJ students yet don't mind that piece of work attacking Asian students.

There are a lot of dedicated, hard-working Asian students in the Class of 2025 that have deserved much better than the vitriol that has been thrown their way by the miscreants on this board. They didn’t decide what process they applied through and they deserve far, far better than what they hear here, which in part explains the treatment they get from some of the students in earlier classes. Shame on you.

This is a great point.

In addition, there are also a lot of dedicated, hard-working non-Asian students in all class years that deserve much better than the casual racism tossed in their direction by posters on this board, and who didn’t decide what process they applied through, and who deserve far, far better than what they hear here. Basically, none of this discussion should be directed on or reflective of the students themselves, regardless of race, and we shouldn't be singling out any one group for some sort of comparative victimhood. Shame on you.

Right. Shame on all the posters who make it their hobby to post anti asian tropes on here every few minutes for many many years now. Asians cheat, asians prep like crazy, asians are robots, asians are drones, asians lack personality, asian are obsessed with academics on and on and on. Asians are the minority group of the minorities yet attacks on asians are tolerated by white liberals who pretend to care for the weak and the vulnerable whereas even fat people, gay people, virtually every other groups are off limits to any attacks whatsoever. Why the double standard?

They may not be legally obligated to consult the Asian community but were they espousing the “Caring Culture” when they chose not too?

Hi - OP here again.

We are getting a bit off topic, but: while I think we can all agree society should find ways to lift every child up to their fullest potential, in practice that is only an ideal.

In practice, I think what the PPs are saying is Asians are being attacked, blamed, and suffering racial discrimination at the hands of those elected politicians using “identity politics” just to get ahead politically.

If you doubt these people are racially discriminating against Asians, a federal court examining the facts disagrees with you:

Posts are only "allowed" if you don't report them.

If you see a racist trope against Asian/black/white/Hispanic/etc. students then REPORT it.

That's the only way to get it removed.

The data has been updated for February on a per-class basis - February would have been expected to be a significant cut-off point as it carries with it the change of semesters.

While the school as a whole is down 16 students since the beginning of the year, only ten of those students are freshmen. Four sophomores and two juniors have also left.

The ten freshmen out of the 541 that opened the year constitute about 1.8% of the class. We know from context on other pages that none of those students are Black.
